When Should I Use The EV Mode Button On My Toyota Prius?

Please let me know anything else at all you’d like to see or know about these cars!

I tried the EV mode button when I first got a Prius. Quickly came to the same conclusion as in your video. The Prius will automatically use EV mode as much as possible anyways. I never touch that button anymore.

I think it is good for pulling into a campground late at night or early in the morninf. Nice and quiet

You can do a fun trick. When you are driving turn on the lane keep assist, turn on cruise control with the speed limit to 39 kmh, then press the EV mode button. I sometimes drive like that when I'm bored.

Throw it on when you are looking for a park or in slow traffic.

it automatically does it at lower speeds, you can cruse at 40 with just the battery you just can't accelerate quickly, pretty nifty. dosnt work past 50mph, though. the engine itself is already efficient

I can use EV mode for several miles in my Hyundai... it's fairly new it's NOT a special edition or anything. Not paying prime prices here either lol. That's cool yours has a button.... cuz mine doesn't.

In the Toyota Corolla 2023 the EV mode goes only to 39 kmh, anything over that the engine turns back on.

How do you even maintain a charge in that EV mode? Do you use the B mode to charge the batteries for EV mode?!

Just tried the EV button in my 2012 Camry Hybrid and it said it wasn’t available due to low battery. The dash icon comes one when I’m going light on the gas and such so I assume the EV system is working fine, just doesn’t work a lot

So, let's imagine you are parked outside and you want to move your car. If the motor is cold, then after some short time, the motor is started. When you start moving, the cold motor is started almost immediately. If your battery is semi-charged, you can press the EV button and move the car up to several hundreds meter without having to start the engine.
Also, if you drive in the landscape, the battery will charge almost to full, then when in a small town on the way, you can press EV and do the village on EV without having to be gentle on gas, when battery gets drained, the motor starts and it will charge the battery between the villages, you can save some gas that way.
