AMD needs Sony/Microsoft, Nividia doesn’t. Which is why AMD is offering a better deal for cheaper

Nvidia is too expensive. The moment a console becomes unaffordable it loses its appeal.

I remember when Nintendo slapped that ATI logo on the side of their Gamecube to show what GPU power they had

Its quite simple, Nvidia is demanding too many of them Dolla, Dolla Bills Y'all. AMD is cheaper. Same reason they choose AMD CPUs over intel, AMD is cheap.

I think gamers should acknowledge that Nvidia doesn't care about them anymore. They are all about AI, as it makes the man in the leather jacket absurd amounts of money. The gaming GPUs are more or less a waste product at this point.

Microsoft got burned hard by Nvidia with the original Xbox. I think that bridge is effectively burned.

If people think the ps5 pro is expensive, imagine it with a Nvidia GPU? Yeah it definitely would be 1000+

It would cost 3 elephants 🐘 instead of the current 2 elephants.

Discussing ARM processors and says, "It's a matter of risk, " and of course my brain heard, "It's a matter of RISC."

Money is what's stopping this. Microsoft and Sony most likely get a discount for using a full AMD SOC.

I think it’s mostly cost. AMD is cheaper and now Sony has bridged it with PSSR.

There's nothing but cost preventing using both an AMD SoC and a discrete GPU like many-a "gaming laptop."

A 65 watt nvidia ARM console sounds wild.

I wonder if more efficient streaming/cloud based gaming could help facilitate a switch by Microsoft and Sony to Nvidia? Eventually those two platforms will be all digital so the idea of cloud based backwards compatible titles could theoretically enable a switch to Nvidia

PRICE same reason Apple moved away, NVIDIA refused to negotiate

They would need to have an AMD (or Intel) x86 CPU and separate nVidia GPU, instead of the all-integrated Zen-RDNA APU solution from AMD. It would be much more expensive; a bigger technical challenge and the logistics is difficult. The PS3 was super expensive at launch because of the custom powerPC CPU (Cell) and separate nVidia RSX, plus PS2 hardware for backwards compatibility.

Say what you want. The ps3 nvidia gpu still looks pretty good and different. God of war ascension looks great still on that gpu, metal gear 4 also. Uncharted games on ps3 stood out great also back then

Haven't watched the video but the answer is probably power efficiency (or lack there of) but also desire.

Nintendo + NVIDIA 20 Year Deal is Something. Imagine the trust NVIDIA trusted Nintendo that much and vice versa.

I don't think Sony has any reason to adopt Nvidia for the PS6, but depending on Microsoft's strategy -- which I can't say I have any faith in at the moment -- they _might_ pay a premium for an Nvidia GPU in their next console.
