You are great. I'm a truck driver and I listen to your videos out on the road. I have my d5200 and d700. I'm learning. Thanks again

This was actually helpful. I automatically started thinking "ok so now I need a flash." However, it was amazing to see how changing the angle and matching the brightness of the background made a huge difference. Thanks!

Yup. THIS was the one mystery I didn’t understand on why some of my photos were amazing and others were muddy and too much shadows in the eye sockets. Changing the direction transformed my photos. I think back on what was behind me on the great photos and I remember the open sky concept; a hill with neutral grass reflecting light back on them; a wide open lake…

The lake one dumbfounded me the most because in my mind I thought “lake in background=amazing photos but they were terrible!!! But turning my couple away from the lake filled in all the shadows on their faces and they really popped!

This is simple, great advice. What if you want to capture a sunset behind your subject(common scenario)? Reflector? OCF?

What’s really cool is I didn’t know this had a name… I naturally do it. I’ve been a photographer for 30 years and you just described in detail what my instincts told me to do. Thank you!

I wish I had watched this video before taking photos of my friend's family in the woods. But I managed to fix certain things in post. You deserve 1 mil + subscribers.

I got my first camera when I was in jr. high, over 30 years ago and I'm still an amateur. Every time I think I've got photography concepts figured out, my camera makes an idiot out of me. People ask me to take photos, they think I'm an expert because I've always got my camera, and sometimes I get a few good shots, but ultimately I feel like a fool because I miss focus or exposure so often. I've taken workshops, online tutorials, watched youtube videos, joined facebook groups, I even took a photography class in college but I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm just not good at photography. I watched this video, as I do with lots of videos and got excited to try it out. Hopefully I'll be back for more content, you do a great job on presentation.

I love your photography style and you are such a great teacher! I just started learning photography and shoot with m43 cameras. Is the starter course suitable for people who doesn't shoot with full frame?

Good stuff! I teach the same thing in my workshops but call it open shade instead of secondary light. Same concept though.
