NASA’s InSight mission was launched by a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 401 rocket from Space Launch Complex 3E, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, on 5 May 2018, at 11:05 UTC (04:05 PDT/07:05 EDT). InSight, short for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, is a NASA Mars lander designed to study Mars’ interior structure and provide insight into the formation of the rocky planets of the Solar System, as well as rocky exoplanets. Along with InSight, Atlas V launched two Mars Cube One (MarCO-A & MarCO-B) CubeSats, the first time CubeSats were launched into deep space.

Insight, I'm not sure if you're still active at the time I'm writing this, but thank you endlessly for your contributions to science and humanity as a whole. You've inspired and informed so many, and we are endlessly grateful for your service. I wish you endless serenity and peace.

I was able to see it and its flight path in Los Angeles, granted it was just the flame. Nice clear morning down here.

They launch these from Vandenberg, ....and of course because of security reasons they don't announce the launch ahead of time, southern California drivers get into even more wrecks, while texting, driving and trying to figure what the f**k this is in the night sky?

How many more times are we going to launch probes or satellites to study Mars before we start planning a manned mission. We've been launching probes and satellites at mars for decades now. Stop waisting time and money doing the same things over and over again and start planning manned missions.
