I'll put this here: Children do not have to "pay back" their parents. Parents choose to have kids & up until the age of 18, you're legally obligated to care for them. I'm a gen xer and I remember all of this stuff. One thing I don't remember is her siblings coming out and apologizing for the screwed up stuff they did to her. I do remember them suing her multiple times and going on TV talking badly about her because she wouldn't give them money.

It's true what she says that you can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. It's one thing to financially help a family member, or even pay for their rehab, but if they're continuing to use, and they not willing to get real help and a proper job to support themselves, then it's time to step back.
