Mariah, Whitney and Céline often are grouped together because all are phenomenal vocalists. Besides (and more important than) her whistle register, Mariah stands apart because she writes her own music, and her music (in my opinion!) has so much more personality and originality than most of Céline's and Whitney's songs do. I love all of them. I absolutely *love* Celine's actual personality and sense of humor, and I appreciated Whitney's graciousness a lot. I don't mean to compare them unfavorably. I just want to give credit to Mariah Carey as a songwriter and vocal performer beyond her technical singing abilities. She has such a strong wit and whimsy that comes through in all of her music, and for me, it makes her songs a lot more interesting to listen to.
