10 Worst Electric Cars To Avoid

Electric vehicles are advancing at an incredible rate, what was relevant a few short years ago is already being phased out. Initially, manufacturers sought to repurpose platforms as EVs but with so many resources getting redirected to developing all new platforms those inherently compromised vehicles are rapidly reaching the end of their service life.

It has also been a hit-and-miss sort of development process for all carmakers still unfamiliar with EV tech, often finding themselves out of their depth in certain areas of the developmental process. Some of these cars are going to be replaced soon, others came out with high expectations and just failed to deliver, either way, these are the worst EVs currently on the market.

I'm not a hater of EV vehicles but I do love my HD 3500 diesel Silverado. 👍😁

The bolt recall doesn't apply to new ones. They already got the fixed battery

My Bolt EV is one of the best cars I have ever owned in my life. I would not want to do a long road trip on this car because of charging capabilities. It is very good for my purposes and I got a great deal on it. 10-12 cars out of 140, 000 burning up is very good odds to me but I have the new battery pack and I got about 21 miles more on the new battery pack. The Bolt EV is still a great car in my opinion.

As a long-time LEAF driver and owner of a 2022 62kWh model, I'm not sure why you don't like the LEAF. So far as range, you get what you pay for, and I think the 62 kWh battery is great for use as an everyday driver. NO EV is great for road trips; right now ICE always wins that battle. So for the occasional road trip, I rent a conventional car. If you don't like the LEAF's performance, you must hate all ICE cars, because it is still a step up from almost any ICE car. The LEAF's performance is outstanding for all normal driving. There is small negative to the LEAF which you do not mention; it uses Chademo, which will eventually be phased out in North America in favor of CCS. But, they are still building new Chademo charging stations in the US. And if, in your normal pattern of usage, you find yourself fast-charging very often, an EV (from any manufacturer) is probably not right for you anyway. The huge positive to the LEAF is that its battery pack is much safer than most EVs. Have you ever heard of a LEAF fire started by its battery pack?

What I perceive is that you are a victim of "specsmanship". That is, you are judging EVs by unimportant specifications. So far as I am concerned, it is highly unimportant how the LEAF's 0-60 time compares to other EVs, because all EVs far exceed what you use during normal, safe driving. It is not so important to compare fast charging times because all EVs suck compared to ICE; if you have to fast charge often the you should use ICE.

You had to keep Tesla in your list. Not a bad car but not as good as advertised. Got a series S ( not plate) and sold it quickly after purchase. Too many imperfections on the assembly. Not as good materials for the price... the list go on..

The Bolt EUV is a good EV. For 2023, GM is dropping the price to $28, 000 minus incentives from the new Biden law. It could end up costing under $20, 000. I think GM was pretty straightforward about replacing the batteries and backing it up with warranty.

Doesn't Tesla have build issues? gap-gate and all sorts of electrical issues

You should do a video on how long the batteries last and what does it cost to replace the battery. I understand it is crazy expensive, so much for savings from not buying gas.

I am no fan of Chevy, but the Bolt and Bolt EUV should not be on this list. I know a woman who has a 1st-gen Bolt. She loves it. Even though the battery recall and GM's actions were bad, one good thing is that the replacement battery has greater range. The BMW i3 was also a loved vehicle, although repairs after warranty are very expensive. Mistubishi i-MiEV, nearly universally hated, should be on this list. Also, Smart EV, Ford Focus EV, and Chevy Spark EV are all arguably worse than most of the vehicles on this list.

My Bolt EV is great. I have a replaced battery. Chevy fixed the problem. Recalls are old news.

Buy, buy, buy. Every Tesla is an electric vehicle. Therefore, every electric vehicle is a Tesla.

Well heck, those are all the affordable EVs. What is left on the affordable category?? By that I mean less than $40K. At these rate... EVs will just become toys for the upper middle class and above. I guess the rest of us will just continue burning gas then....

You don't know anything about EVs for the middle class working people.
Just name me any better EV under 40k better than any of these.
