Did you notice the filament guide on the Prusa MK4? It’s a lifesaver

The new filament guide on the Prusa MK4 seems like it's going to solve all the world's problems! OK, well in lieu of world peace, this little feature of Prusa's newest printer should at least ensure that filament doesn't jump off the side of your spool and get tangled! Here's how it works.

I've had various printers for many years, and pre-Prusa, yeah, I needed a guide, but never needed one on my MK3

Can you go over your top mount parts? Looks like a flexbed holder? And what mount and dry box you are using?!?!

I designed and made needle rollor bearing to mount the fillament reels on attached to the tee bar as they take all the load off the Prusa head and the new fillament holder will just top it all off. Oh i just designed a fillament guide also as I have yet to receieve my MK 4 kit when it comes out so upgrades to my Mk3S+ 👀🤓

Never had this issue on my MK3, but yes, the Mk4 needs. I think it has to do with the increased speed yanking on the spool so hard vs the Mk3.

I had this installed and then downloaded the modded version. I understand it when i printed the rollers for the spool holder.

I'm 25k hours in on my MK3. Have had this happen once 🤷‍♂️

Long long time ago I decided to just print a sideways spool holder which solves the issue. I find it a little weird they took this long to address it. Though given the frame resonance with the spool hanging off the top sooner or later I should just stop having it on the printer lol

Will those filament box holders fit the MK4?

have you had any issues with that much weight put on the frame of the printers? how well do the mounts hold up?

Where did you get the extra spool holders? My mk4 one looked injected molded. My mk3 is 4 years old so maybe these are spool holders shipping with all their printers now. My mk3 has 3D printed holders.

I don't know what filament you're using, but I've always used my MK3S+ without a filament guide and I've never had filament pop off the spool

Omg, something like this was not part of the Prusa printers after so many years of development?
It's very basic and obviously needed.
My cheap Artillery simply does this by a flexible filament sensor wich even stops the filament going back its way

you should really cut the low end on your background music...

Absence of new ideas in the world is so strong that we make 6 minute videos about filament guides...

sorry but the music in the background is annoying

Appreciate the info, but this video was 4x as long as it needed to be. Consider breaking it up into separate takes so you don't dawdle on a single point for too long or repeat info

Wow they fixed a massive design flaw from 8 years ago! Innovative!!!
