Series 4 had the best ending to any comedy series of all time.

Best series of the best comedy ever. Absolutely loved Atkinson, Edmondson, Mayall, Robinson, Fry, Richardson and of course the immensely talented Hugh Laurie. I doubt we'll ever see such an incredible comedic cast together again in our lifetimes. I hope I'm wrong.

That ending never loses its impact. The whole bloody war was a miserable waste of lives for absolutely nothing.

The very end of Season 4 still gives me chills. Perfect. A fitting homage that conveyed the dark and futile side of that war in particular. There was a naivety amoung so many who joined in WW1 contrasted by a horror few could imagine today.
