Watch Netflix 4k HDR On Windows 10 PC Fix (WITH LINKS)

The problem stems from the fact that Microsoft removed the required codec from future updates. To remedy this problem, just simply install the Netflix app and the codec from the Microsoft Store app.

Does not work on Vega cards. There appears to be a driver issue that has never been resolved by AMD and Netflix.

Thanks man this helped me instantly installing HEVC codec was the game changer. I was at a point where I just threw my hands up in the air because I had everything ready for 4K I even upgraded my internet to 50mbps Fibre to commedate the requirement. Now I'm a happy man. Running on a Ryzen 5 5600X, GTX 1070ti, 16GB RAM and a 4K Sansui TV. Win 11 Pro 64Bit

Can't get it working for me.
HEVC installed
RTX 2600
i5-9400F
Latest windows
All drivers up to date
Monitor is compliant LG 27GL850
Used Nvidia CP to uprez to 2160p
Disconnected all other monitors
Reinstalled windows fresh in case something was interfering.

Still can't get the app to go above 1080P. Only extra I get is Dolby Atmos.

But I should be able to get 4K HDR.
Edge browser also doesn't work unless I turn off hardware acceleration which limits to 720p. It just gets stuck loading video.

I'm out of troubleshooting options I can find. Need HELP!

did not work for me.. downloaded the hevc codec and netflix still does not appear to be 4k in my 4k monitor

Yea idk what to say, this worked for me for about a year now. Nothing changed. Suddenly, Netflix only plays at 720p in edge, in chrome and in the windows app.

On iPhone tho I am getting the full 4K experience. I don’t know if THEY changed anything, but help would be nice here.😊

What's the point of paying for a 4k subscription when I'm not allowed to play in 4k on my PC which is the platform I use the most.

I have a 1080ti, an 8700k, latest windows update, a 4k LG tv and the extension purchased and instaled. My netflix plan is the UHD one and im still not able to watch in 4k. In the native app of my tv i get 4k hdr but not in the computer which sucks because i want to watch movies with my friends on discord.


Any Ideas of what could be causing the problem? I have a 4k monitor and another 1440p one plugged to my PC, tried switching both off but still no difference.

Thanks for your help can you clarify one question? I have hevc manufacturer extensions available, the UHD 4k label appears in the netflix titles so netflix windows 10 app knows my laptop is able to play 4k. If i manually change the resolution it no longer appears 4k label. But every time I play a 4k title using control alt shift d it never goes up 1080p, this was not a problem before, my plan is still the premium plan and it worked perfectly before (it played in 4k) . Does anyone know what is causing this?

I installed HEVC and have inputted it into my netflix software, now the movies/ shows say Ultra HD 4K, does this mean UHD is also enabled?
