I have this version and the Japanese AUS8 version (1995-2007)before the San Mai III version (2007-2015 the VG1 version). The new Taiwan Tai Pan is a very, very nice knife for the money. Very nicely done.

Legit fixed dagger, Probably best around for the cost!

Quite very quite vs. extremely loud 📢 that's the difference, but both will do a very good job if your life is depending on it. 🗡️⚔️🗡️

Love the all type knives concept. Don't know much about them but I'm excited to learn.

It still has the steel made in Japan. Partial tang with cut out, t shaped. Then the bolt welded into the cut out on the tang. The handle is then put on. Then the skull crusher is threaded to the bolt, and then tightened, this locks the handle on. Very strong construction. True tanto dagger design, which goes back centuries. The Japanese spears had the same shape. Very strong, wide tip.

There is no limit to fixed blade length in Indiana so yes you can carry it.

I wish to buy the tai pan for myself. Can anyone give me some advice? I’m not very well versed in steel. They have a cheaper version with “VG-10” steel, then they have the slightly more expensive “CPM-V3” steel version. I assume the more expensive CPM must be better, but have no clue why, or if it’s really worth the extra money. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
