No disrespect but this blade is perfectly legal to carry in California as long as it’s NOT concealed.

PC 20200 makes it clear that with fixed blades & Daggers there is no limit on length except they must be worn on the side with the hilt showing.

As far as pocket folders in California you can hide them in the pocket and size is unlimited.

I WEAR A TAI PAN EVERY SINGLE DAY WITH NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

Definitely one of my top favorite knives. I like the secure-x sheaths myself, which I improve by swapping out the nylon belt loop for a tek-lok type device.

Much as I love the aesthetics of a good dagger… Utter “function is form”…. For most folks these are pretty impractical. For military/Spec-ops types…. No problem. But for the average civilian… They are outright illegal to carry in some states, and if used in a self-defense context, you’re going to have a hard time explaining to a jury.

(Odd, since in most all states now you can carry a gun with no problem)

For “defensive” use, I rather like Michael Janich’s “Martial Blade Concepts” which involves much smaller knives and a “cut to disable” technique. Much more defensible in court.

This seems like a previous gen Tai Pan and is the best. New one is more pointy

Well made without question, altough tbh, it's incredibly derivative of both the USMC Raider Stiletto and earlier Randall difficult to design completely original designs when trailblazers like Fairburn/Sykes and Randall eliminated most of the dead ends of fighting knife design.

You said you can’t carry this legally in California. Are you sure about that? The law talks a lot about Dierks and daggers, but it never says that you cannot carry a dark or dagger.

Quality control is suffering since the new company bought them out. Got to fix blades sense the buyout and both of them had major quality control issues. Not gonna buy anymore from this company. Not until I hear they focused more on quality control. That whole fool me wants thing. got the same one you did too. The fact that you had to sharpen yours tells me that I’m not the only one.

I know in Texas, you can wear what you want but I speak from experience. If you walk.around with that, expect police questioning. I haven't had any confiscations yet. In California I did. For no reason. Just, gimme that. I still think in Texas, some cops would do the same
