Pre-WGU | My transcripts may not transfer in time

I'm supposed to start WGU in January and it may not happen due to the time it takes for WGU to process the transcripts taking longer than usual. I'm hoping for the best, but mentally preparing for the worst.

Finished my last class October 12th and officially starting December 1st with orientation November 15th, would've much rather preferred to start November 1st but they're so damn slow.

That 1st of the month thing is a guideline to make sure you don't send in transcripts late. They really need your transcripts evaluated by the 15th of the month. 15th is because that's when they need to do your Intake Interview by. You should be fine. Personally, my transcripts came late and didn't get evaluated until the 20th and I still got enrolled for the following month.

It took them 19 days for them to evaluate my transfer credits, even though they had told me it was supposed to only take around a week. (October 19th to November 7th was the processing time since they had received it.) I wonder if they're running behind or something.

I have been told by persons who have done the same that you are able to continue the transfer of credits until you have had your intake interview and are "enrolled". You should be able to push this push this out another month if you are not already enrolled.

Hey Bru I had the same issue that almost impacted my start date due to delay with transcript processing. My EC escalated to the boss and they fixed it really fast. You can also ask SDC to expedite your grading. They did for me. Don't give up.

I started last week. I was done with most of my transfer credits and decided to take a statistics class last min and I was able to get my mines evaluated quickly this is just an update to your previous trans basically adding the additional classes. Anything between 1-3 classes should go quick. My E.C. told me that everything needs to be done by the 15th of the month, the first is when they want your transcript received. You have more than enough time. Don't stress it.... I still think that you should've studied the ITIL and asked your mentor to set it as your first class.

From random Facebook and Reddit posts, I read most ppl have their certs transfer in after enrollment. Classes are what they usually deny. Hopefully ITIL will work out for you. Thanks for posting your journey. Attempting the same thing.

Hey man, I just went through the same thing. My start date is December 1st. I finished my Sophia courses on the 22nd of October. As long as they have the transcripts in by the first of December, you should be good for January. My transfer credit cleared on the 13th, and I'm good to go for December 1st.

On the bright side, whenever you do start, you're way ahead of the game and area "almost" done already ! Everything happens for a reason

I wouldn't rack my brain worrying about something that hasn't happened yet and is out of your control. You'll either start in Jan or Feb. Not really too much difference in the grand scheme of things. If it was April or May then that'd be a different thing. If it doesn't make it in time, you can always study the cert exams so they'll be easier when you have to take them.

I’m sorry to hear that.

I thought only your transcripts needed to be over by the first of the month prior to start.

Sounds like they have to be over AND be evaluated?

If so, the current wording on the site is deceptive.

I know, now you have to wait a whole semester smh.

I’m thinking about doing the same program. I’m on the fence though with the cyber security and the IT management. If I want to get into cyber security, is an IT management good enough or respectable enough? It seems that the cyber degree is too much because of the certs. Im looking for an easy bachelors, then getting the certs later when I’m ready to jump into the career.

It's unfortunate but just push your start date back 1 month if you have to. Better than losing those credits.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Quick question, is it required to speak to a WGU advisor prior to taking courses via Study? I already know what courses will transfer over and have been working on them, but I haven’t had a formal discussion with WGU yet. Just making sure I am not jeopardizing anything. Thanks & I’ll continue to follow your journey!
