Even though the title of this video is provocative, I've spent years practicing in front of a mirror, reading out loud, and just recently started mindfulness meditation. There are many different causes of stuttering and not everyone is the same. My stutter is a result of a traumatic dog attack at the age of 5. I've had 20 years of speech therapy and I'm at 90% fluency. I survived bullying and suicide so this subject is very strong to me. Many PWS (people who stutter) are looking for that "magic pill" and unfortunately, it doesn't exist. What is indicative of "improved speech" is practice because I was afraid of the phone for 25 years until I bought one and began to practice every day for months and months. Now, I have no issue with the phone at all; actually, I look forward to speaking on the phone. I continue to practice on a daily basis and I have embraced my stutter instead of fighting it. My stutter has taught me empathy, courage, and resiliency. What I want for everyone to know is that you made a very important point in that it takes hard work.

Great video. Several additional recommendations to improve your stuttering without going to a speech therapist.
1. Read out loud every day and in fact, never read silently again. Ideally read in front of a mirror. There are so many words that you just never say and sentence structure that you have never used. Reading out loud changes your vocabulary and speech pattern. Just think, would a singer read their lyrics page silently and then sing them out loud for the first time in a performance? Never.
2. Have intense focus on what point you are trying to make rather than your speech pattern.
3. Have great confidence. Image you are the greatest speaker in the world. In fact study a great speaker and try to mimic their speech pattern. Smile when you speak.
4. Speak slower.
5. Don't hold your breath. Either just breather naturally or take in more deep breaths.
6. As Daniel says, give as many speeches as can. Volunteer at work to give a presentation or join a Toastmasters group.
7. Try to have a speech as is almost melodic as people never stutter when they sing.
8. Use YouTube to research tips on better speech. There are hundreds of videos on stuttering with great advice. Maybe most of the guidance will not work for you but there could be one gem in there which will be your cure.

I love how simple your words of wisdom are. The methods you suggest in all your videos are so obvious, yet we still neglect to exercise them. I guess action is the main factor that separates the wannabes from the successful.

I already overcame my stuttering problem but this pandemic and isolations made it come back. From being the most confident student in the classroom to being the most quiet in zoom meetings.

How to stop stuttering for ever
key notes:
*practice frequently because it makes perfect
The more severe your stuttering problem the longer it takes during practice
Every master was a disaster..
Once you challenge your self no one else in the world can be able to challenge you

Pick a book and repeat the words in the book it surely works...

Hey Daniel, my story with stuttering has been a little irregular. When I was a kid, I used to stutter a lot but then I overcame it by some exercises in therapy but when I entered High School it started coming again and without even noticing I started stuttering. Many people have told me that’s a matter of stress, and it has caused to my throat to get really tense multiple times a day even when I’m alone (right now in quarantine). The thing is that I don’t really feel my voice sounding correctly as if I’ve been talking incorrectly. I don’t know if it’s something physical, mental or both. Hope this video will help me. Thanks Daniel !!

You're right Daniel! Most people have messed up during speeches over here in Bakersfield where I live. I will point out that they were always using the word "UMM" all of the time. They really couldn't give the entire speech!!! In other words, I have better things to do than listen to a person who doesn't know how to give a speech. Most people will give up and stop listening to the speaker because they'll think that it was a waste of time! Now, I can say, in a way the speaker is supposed to represent the company by making the presentation. It makes it seem like, there is a bad reputation for the company.
