Tappei has finally release arc 7 chapter 1 on the same day as episode 41 of re: zero season 2 (also known as re: zero season 2 cour 2 episode 16). With that said here is a summary for baptism - chapter 1 of arc 7.

Do keep in mind it contains spoilers and continues after satella's attack on the Pleiades watchtower as well as show what happened to the emilia camp and subaru/rem/louis.

Re: Zero is one of the most interesting isekai anime that has come out in the past few years. The story revolves around Natsuki Subaru being transported from Earth to a new world and he is granted one simple power: "Return By Death". Subaru must use this newfound power to save those he cares about, such as Emilia, Rem, Ram, Petra, Otto and Garfiel and more.

Who is Satella and why did she grant subaru this power? What is the motivation behind the witch cult which have members such as Petelguese the sin archbishop of sloth? These are some of the questions I'll tackle on this channel, I hope you enjoy it and most importantly also enjoy season 1 and season 2 of Re: zero and hopefully it does well enough to warrant a third season covering arc 5 (Season 3 re: zero).

Poor Subaru, it literally has only been an hour (or a half?) after he woke up from an exhausting loop where he lost his memories, practically went insane, died more times in one arc than all the others combined, got over the emotional turmoil of maybe losing Shaula after promising to help her. And worst thing is he might not have died at the end of the chapter. Imagine being forced to continue this loop where he got off to a bad start with Rem and he wakes up captured by whoever it is that shot him.

Thinking back to how Subaru won Rem's trust, by helping people he was not obliged to help, you can kinda get she may be ticked off by the opposite. People with erased memory remained the same in the core, as he had learned from Crusch's example.

Everyone need to accept 2 things.

1) Rem lost her memories, meaning she didn't even know what Subaru has done and sacrifice for her or what she's going through right now.

2) Witch's Miasma is not a freaking joke. To someone who can't smell it, it manages to drive Subaru, Ram, Anastasia and Patrasche mad to a point they kill each other. Now, imagine the smell to someone who can?

It also enforce the idea that Witch's Miasma actually gives out malice and evil not only trigger bad trauma since Rem reacts hostile even when she doesn't have her memories.

This is actually good because by holding Rem's memories back, the story can and need to go deeper into Rem's background and history.

Then we can actually see more about the Witch Cultists raid on the Oni villages. To understand why all Oni villages were raided.

Granted I think everyone should have expected this, Rem is a bit more violent in the WN and a bit creepier. This is not unexpected i knew she were gonna react to witch smell especially since it’s really high after all the deaths and the Sand Dunes miasma.
