I just drove my 90 240 wagon from Reno Nevada to Boise Idaho and back last weekend. Over 1200 miles total no problem. My friend Les lived in that car for almost three’s years to be able to afford to pay off his student loans. He gave it to me before he moved to Mexico City. Great rides these.

Love these old Volvo 240’s. My fave is the 245DL estate, I had 2 of them; hard to find now though. The body shape, built like a tank, with that massive bumper, they just feel so solid, comfortable, dependable & practical.

Very neat video. A lovely car. I did not have to find my 1990 240DL wagon. Ma bought Arthur new as her 60th birthday present to herself. She put the first 300, 000 km on him in 25½ years. In the 6 years I have had him, I've added another 300, 000. The original automatic transmission is still working perfectly. The old boy does about 8.5 litres/100km. Not bad. Arthur does like to cruise at between 125 and 130 km/h, so that fuel consumption is not bad. I plan to retire in 5 years, and when I do, Arthur will make the 5, 200 km, 4 country drive. Should be fun. Between now and then I want to drive to the Yukon Territory to visit my brother. Just over 10, 000 km round trip. No car better for those trips. Rugged yet comfortable.

Lovely mate - similar experiences
Picked up my wagon from London and drove to Lincoln to pick up some seats and then back home to Bristol :) no issues!
Since have replaced all the suspension bushes, lowered, stainless exhaust, new rad, water pump, thermostat, viscous fan, injector seals, coil pack, boot struts - mostly because I could ;)

I'm not really into cars but appreciate people who are. The enthusiasm from you is just lovely and anyone can tell you have a real passion for this type of car. I'm so glad she made it home and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the transformation ha. Well I can always speed through the technical stuff eh lol. Good luck and take care x

Came over from your brother's channel. I want a Volvo one day so I'm gonna see what I can learn here! ;) Like the music you put over the driving sequences a lot!

Just happened upon your channel due to a recommendation that YT gave me after I watched Ponyhans' 'Buy My Volvo' video for the umpteenth time. Great stuff!

I'm a lifelong Volvo fan and have owned several examples of the marque since 2002; I've owned a 1990 740 SE estate since 2003 and took delivery of a 2005 V70 D5 just yesterday - what a car!

im buying a 240 later this year. saving up for a nice minty manual. correct me if im wrong but this seems like a great beginner platform especially in todays market. i can even get a rusted out miata for under 5k usd here. i can buy one of these for a few thousand and bag it and rebuild it. i wanna start taking my daughter to car shows.
