Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak have condemned Nigel Farage for his claim the West provoked the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The comments from the Reform leader came as he was also grilled over his previous praise of the Russian President Valdimir Putin.

Appearing on BBC Panorama, Mr Farage was asked whether he stood by a post on X that the Russian leader's invasion in 2022 was a "consequence of EU and NATO expansion".

He replied: "I stood up in the European Parliament in 2014 and I said, and I quote, 'there will be a war in Ukraine.' Why did I say that? It was obvious to me that the ever-eastward expansion of NATO and the European Union was giving this man a reason to his Russian people to say, 'They’re coming for us again,' and to go to war. "

context....On 13 January 2005, the European Parliament almost unanimously (467 votes to 19 in favour) passed a motion stating the wish of the European Parliament to establish closer ties with Ukraine in view of the possibility of EU membership....Ukraine is one of six post-Soviet nations to be invited to cooperate with the EU within the new multilateral framework of the Eastern Partnership... project.

It was Blair and his obsession with becomeing eu president that did not help with the slow expansion that creeped towards Russia! This united states of europe that no one wants is about power and land grabbing etc Im not saying Putin is right or wrong however he is acting in proactive defence re his country and people unlike Blair or Starmer who would/ has no loyalty to the uk and its population and who both just hold contempt for the working class and the uk in general?

And what excuse would Farage make for Putin invading Georgia and Chechnya? Like to point out that Sunak hasn't said anything about the Tory party's links to Russian oligarchs in Putin's close circle. Well he wouldn't would he?
