Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer go head to head in first general election debate

The leaders of the two main parties Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer clashed in their first debate of the general election campaign.

Tax, the economy, immigration, education and the NHS were all among the key talking points.

It wasn't shown here but they were both asked if they would use private medical care for a sick relative. Sunak said yes, Starmer said no. I'm with Starmer; if one of my relatives was seriously ill or dying, I would explain to their face that although I can easily afford private medical care, out of principle to save the NHS, I would not pay for it, and they would have to stay in pain and/or die. But, as a consolation to them, I would give the money that I would save to my local hospital - and I'm sure they would appreciate that gesture. 😀
