He wasn't kidding when he said he made the biggest mistake of his life....

First mistake was him even booking a flight there

Phrases like "I entirely beg you" and "please act to save me" that are very awkwardly worded tell me that a party member wrote this for him and forced him to read it.

When I read about just how poor human beings are treated in North Korea, it makes me a hell of a lot more grateful to live in America. Even with all the problems we have going on in the U.S., it cannot compare to what the people in North Korea are experiencing.

Out of all the countries, he went to North Korea.

Moral of the story: there are places in this world to avoid. North Korea sits atop that list.

Somehow was allowed to visit North Korea, got sentenced to 15 years hard labor and died when he finally got home. That has got to be the most tragic end I have heard in a while

This is a nightmare, imagine stuck alone in north korea, being tortured until you fell into a coma and never really experience home again before dying ugh

Imagine having the worst mistake of your life is taking a poster. I can't.

For those who are saying that he “shouldn’t have removed the poster”, he didn’t. His tour group confirmed that he was out at a party with them at the time that the video was recorded with the man removing the poster. Otto didn’t do it. He was set up.

It’s devastating, I remember watching it when I was younger and thinking “Why can’t he just go home? Can’t they just talk?” I still feel bad for Otto, he’s like a lot of guys these days they don’t really get the reality of things until there’s no one there to save them. Rest In Peace

Out of 190+ countries, he chose North Korea. Not even South, but North.

Never visit a country where your government doesn't have an embassy

My heart breaks for him. Poor soul, i hope whenever he is, he's resting peacefully.

People in the comments saying why did go to north Korea, rather than saying why did he go there with his American privilege. America's think they go anywhere and do as they please, forgetting outside of America your silly rules don't matter to the rest of us.

As a SOUTH Korean, im actually so embarrassed. Im telling you, in my lifetime south and north is never going to be reunified.

It hits me when I realize that he probably knew death and torture was certain
