Word to the wise. Do not enter North Korea. Ever. Unless you're willing to lose your life for your cause.

Just the way those guards hold the prisoners arms is enough to know how bad he was treated .

This is one story I just can’t get out of my head. Just a bright kind hearted young man exploring the world. It breaks my heart that his life was simply seen as a bargaining chip for that awful country. I can’t imagine the pain and anguish his family and friends had to endure. Rest Peacefully Otto, you are not forgotten.

Rest easy, sweetheart. You didn't deserve that harsh punishment . I believe they killed him, and sent him back to the US, because they knew he had a short time left, and didn't want to deal with his death, on THEIR soil.

r.i.p - this is unbelievable in this day and age. Any young person could have done something like this. I feel truly awful for him and his family.

Has anyone thought maybe just maybe Otto didn't take that poster? His confession was clearly written by someone who's first language wasn't English, he mentioned "being enticed by the American government, " and that he did it because his church offered him money and a car as payment for the poster? Does any of the aforementioned make sense? Otto was just a political pawn- the grainy vid? Can anyone even make out the gender? RIP Otto.

This story had a very tragic ending. What the North Koreans did to Otto Warmbier was abominable. We should not think of Kim Jong Un as some kind of cuddly panda bear because he and his regime are capable of heinous offenses that show the worst face of humanity.

Literally just discovered this. Wow.

Last night, I was very visibly shaken after discovering Otto's story. I don't even live in North Korea or the United States and I felt so fearful for my life. I didn't even want to leave my home.

Rest in peace, Otto. My heart goes out to his family.

that was not him in the video. In a recorded video inside of the 5th floor (the one he allegedly took the poster from) shows the roof is way shorter than the other floors, the heads of the turists there are nearly touching the roof. In here the guy who is taking the poster looks normal korean size in comparison to the size of roof and the room. If this was indeed him his head should be above the door frame behind his body not below it.The north Koreans staged all of this to put the blame on him.

Is it just me or does this look like really bad acting

I've got two questions:

Why do people even go to North Korea?

And why does North Korea still exist in 2016?
