We are VERY excited for the FX3 2.0 firmware update. Among multiple adjustments, TIMECODE was added (FINALLY making it a Netflix approved camera). Watch this video to see how we sync timecode to the Sony FX3.

**We are not sponsored by Deity, Sony or Zoom...but wouldn't be mad about it if any of you want to send us gear to test out or review.**

Awesome stuff. I’m a young filmmaker who is just learning about timecode for the first time

Cool! I was really bummed to hear there was no TC on the FX3. Presumably you could use the Atomos UltraSyncs for this as well; some Zoom audio recorders and other gear has built-in support for their wireless TC standard. Once you jammed the camera to an UltraSync One, other devices could be kept in sync via Bluetooth or RF.

This super. I have an FX-6, an FX-30, and a Zoom F6. Question, and thanks in advance for your expertise! Would you recommend just getting a single TC-1 to jam my FX-6 to my FX-3, (if not doing external recording) and if external recording, use the F6 to jam the two cameras? I'm intrigued by your observation that one could power down the cameras and not lose timecode. I was of the understanding that I'd need 3 TC-1's to effectively insure Timecode is matched on all 3 devices....

Do you happen to know how this would work with the tentacle sync e?

Hi, I have a question, due the new firmaware 3.0 Update of the A7IV, do you know if this works for the A7iv by Multiport? like the FX series

That was awesome. For someone who knows nothing about using timecode in my workflow, that looked quite simple. Always had the impression that you need to have timecode device continuously attached to the camera for it to work. What's the process for syncing your other devices?

Does jam syncing like this work on other Sony cameras like the a74 or a6600 that also have a Sony Multiport or are those restricted to only utilizing audio TC and needing it passed continuously with a unit connected?

Can I jam timecode in to the fx3 and zoom h6 with the fx6? I just got my fx6 and am trying to figure out how to maximize tc

Do you need a deity unit for each fx3 (using 3 Fx3s) to be running at the same time during a shoot, 1 deity and jus go around setting tc on each fx3 using 1 deity?

You forgot to mention one more settings! Go to briefcase 💼 - 7 Display Options - TC/UB disp settings - change to TC.

I have no problem syncing my timecode across my devices but for some reason FCPX won't read the timecode from my FX3 footage. It reads it from my audio sources, which currently are a mix of the Zoom F6 and the Rode Wireless Pro. But all of the footage I import or drop into FCPX starts at 0. Does anyone have any advice? I'm rolling in 29.97 (the FX3 won't register a timecode format in 23.98 and I wasn't sure if that was the issue), in XAVC S-I 4K.

Thanks for the video! Do you need the Deity timecode generator or can you just use the FX6 timecode out instead and feed that into the FX3?

Hello, could I ask for information, if I connect the Deity TC-1 via the Multi port to the Sony FX3 plus this Sony VMC-BNCM1 cable, can I use the Sony ECM-B1M (or ECM-B10) microphone normally ??? I mean, is it possible to use a microphone while putting out timecode. I know that you can easily attach the XLR handle to the FX3, but I don't need it. I will be grateful for your help and information.

Thank you for the video. I always thought that I can input timecode to FX3 via 3.5mm port but turns out it doesn't. Now I know that I need to buy the adapter from Sony to make it work with this particular camera.

Do you have to switch frame rates on the deity if you switch frame rates on camera or will it switch automatically?

If you just stab TC in like this, does it drift ? usually you would keep the TC box on the camera, but that cable makes it a bit cumbersome ..

How about setting up with FX30 which would be the same - adding Deity's timecode slate, and Sound Devices MixPre3 II.
