Pastor’s Library is a series where all matters pertaining to theological books are discussed for everyone at every level – whether it is about a book or a series of books that you have seen on a Pastor’s bookshelf, whether it is on a reading list for a diploma in Theology or for your Batchelor’s or Master’s degree. There are so many Christian Theology books out there and it is so difficult to navigate through them without any help; this is where 'Pastor’s Library' comes in.

Please remember as with any other channel, personal opinions might be expressed that you may not agree with, but we do try to be as even handed as possible. If there is a specific book or series that you would like us to cover then please leave a message. Remember to subscribe and to enable notifications so that we you will be among the first to know when a new episode is released.

Stephen Redman, who presents Pastor's Library, is a published author, has ministerial credentials from the Ground Level network and is a Presbyter of the Order of St Leonard. He has a master’s degree in Practical Theology and serves the children's cancer charity 'Candlelighters' and community charity 'Attend'. Stephen also serves as the Chair of the 'Friends of Amarna House' (a local care home). Stephen is very committed to the local unity group of church and ministry leaders 'One Voice', as he continues to pastor The Ark, based in York, UK.

Wow, I honestly thought there were 400 years of silence, so this video has already helped me think beyond that. I always thought it seemed a bit against His nature to be so distant, and very hopeless to think everyone alive for that time pushed Him away so strongly.... Thank you so much for this! 😄

I'll have to check this out. My go-to book is Religion of the Apostles by Fr. Stephen De Young, PhD.

Great review. How would you compare this to "The New Testament in it's World" by NT Wright and Michael Bird? Thanks brother. Love your channel.

Second Temple? Now we're talking! Where do we start? In that 400 years we have the development of the theology of the Father and the Son as well as the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not appear in a vacuum but into a perfect Messianic storm whose theological groundwork had been laid in the previous four hundred years. The gospels are thoroughly 'Jewish' documents, inventing nothing new. As Daniel Boyarin, the great Talmudic scholar notes (The Jewish Gospels: The Story of the Jewish Christ), the only difference between 'Christianity' and 'Judaism' (using the terms anachronistically) is that the Israelites who followed Jesus believe that the expected Messiah had come. There was nothing blasphemous about believing in God appearing either as a human on earth, or as a Messiah suffering for our sins. That theological groundwork was covered in Daniel and Enoch (and many passages where God is anthropomorphized in the Hebrew scriptures) and Is.53. The only question was "Is this Jesus that Messiah?" It's an essential period if you want to understand Christological origins, let alone 'Christian' origins. It's a period rich in writing, thinking, and history. Seismically theologically. Thanks for bringing this book to my attention.
