The Gap in our Bibles: What happened between the Testaments (Ep 07)

400 years pass between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New, and those years matter. God was not inactive, history did not stop during those years, and they shaped the world of the New Testament.

Other good works to learn more include the works of Josephus and as so often is the case, John Bright's excellent "A History of Israel."

This was very helpful, informative, easy to understand, and quirky (which I love). I used it to teach a grade 10 Bible class. Thank you!

Thank you, this was very helpful to get an overview as I am currently studying theology and having to write a test about the history between the two testaments tomorrow. Very fascinating story, which explains a lot about the New Testament. Thank you for explaining the process so well.

Every so often, maybe 500 years or so, global religions seem to get a face lift. Buddha updated Hinduism in his own way. Christianity and Islam took the same route with Judaism. Along comes Mormonism. It never ends and isn't isolated to any one religion. Religion has evolved on this planet faster than biology ever could.

Thank you for the video I always wondered if the Apocrypha was worth reading into and in my deep study of the Old Testament I had the question what happened between the Old Testament and the New Testament as I was piecing together the timelines of the history of Israel with the Kings and the prophets and who prophesied during what reign and what happened after Nehemiah and Ezra era so now you inspired me to start looking into the Apocrypha and to learn more about the history of Israel thank you

Why would you say that the idea if the priest -king drew more attention then warranted? It was obvious that the writer of Hebrews does share that sentiment. The idea of the messiah would be a priest-King.

Great overview but that comment threw me off.
