What happened during the approximately 400 years “between the old and new testaments?” Dr. George Athas dispels the myth of the “400 years of silence” that unfortunately breaks apart the flow of the continues Biblical story. George shares insights from his new book “Bridging the Testaments” in which he tells the grand story of this time period, synthesizing scholarship into a narrative style presentation with erudite insights.

Dr. George Athas has a PhD from the University of Sydney and is Director of Research of Old Testament and Hebrew at Moore Theological College. He has written extensively on Old Testament prophetic books; Ecclesiastes; Song of Songs; apocalyptic literature; the exilic and post-exilic periods; Second Temple Judaism and early Christianity; history and archaeology of the ancient Near East and Mediterranean; biblical theology; and Hebrew language.

My only complaint with you guys is I’m going to have to start a GoFundMe for the books of the authors you feature on this channel 😝😝😆. Another day, another brilliant guest and interview. This channel is a goldmine. 🕎❤️🙏🏻

Question, what type of Judaism do you concider to become the dominant one, the more good or the more evil ones? And why would you consider them more good or evil?

Great interview! Curious if you might talk with Jonathan Stökl about Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Prophecy at some point? He has done podcasts and interviews on the topic.

Why does George Athas downplay the book of Enoch? He said some nice things about it, but this is the sweet spot period he is writing about. What is the significance of Enoch? How do we use it today as we study it? Do we dismiss what Enoch is writing about? Some write that Enoch was even more valued than Moses? Enjoy the interview, i ordered the book and also listening on audio. I wish George was reading the audio was George! (i have to wait for the book to look at some words that were not clear pronounced!) I'm a fan, great work.
