But on a real note, this is like the only RPG where you get progressively worse and not overpowered. I still love it though.

The first Diablo was when games were meant to challenge you and there was no hand holding. It felt like such an accomplishment to finally beat a level or enemy that was giving you a hard time. Even the weapons and items in the first two games felt like they were *actually* something powerful and rare when you found something good. In 3 and 4 it just seems like it’s all the same. There’s no gravity to the monsters or gear.

It takes some doing but the wizard is actually a beast. When you get Mana Shield, and Fire Wall, and you get to about level 12 not even Diablo can challenge you.

Put up your mana shield, walk into a room and fill it with fire, walk back out and wait for everything to die.

yep, that's why I retro game... gaming now is a pass time, not a challenge except for some FromSoftware games, those have that old school retro game feel where you actually have to learn sequences and timing but with upgraded graphics and sound. Everything else feels like online casino on a repeat

If u didnt already know; make him follw u to a gated wall with a door. If u close the door behind you, he will pase back n fourth while u can hit him with a projectile such as a firebalm or bow n arrow.

I remembered that event which happened recently. I played diablo with my brother. I was a sorcerer he was a warrior. We wanted to slain butcher! We had a whole plan... he opened a door and fight with him, meanwhile me, casting fireballs to butcher. My brother's weapon was an axe, so he cannot hit butcher and we were fucked up. Second time brother took a claymore with a shield, and souls of the dead may finally rest...

I literally just done this last night, on livestream, in 2 player coop. The Butcher ended up not being so bad....but the king on the lower floor decimated us

Played this game when I was in the sixth grade when it first came out years ago and I ain't going to lie there's never been a game like Diablo 1 that's giving me the heebie-jeebies. I'm sure in part it was because I was young but at the same time the way this game was designed was unprecedented.


And the butcher man the sound he makes when you open that door always made my heart sank.

It's games like that and creators like that that I wish I could just give him a big hug and thank him for all the fun feelings they gave me over the years

I played this with my siblings all the time almost 2 decades ago but it had a bug or scratch on the disc where killing this guy would crash and reset your progress. The amount of times I played up to this exact point I couldn’t count, I remember one time I got to him and just started running in circles away as long as I could, clinging to those few last moments.
