1) Are 4K, live or 360 videos promoted more than regular videos?

2) Do new playlists impact how much you get recommended?

I think a combo of all caps with lower case can be effective to help important words stand out.

Barb shouts at us in the intro, 4 minutes later "imagine if we shouted at you, would you like that?"

3:55 "Imagine if we were shouting at you right now. Would you appreciate that?"
My answer is "no." That's why I find this so offputting. 0:01

Ohhhh, that was really helpful, especially about the caps. I do a mix of caps and no caps as an attention-getter, but now I'm re-thinking that. Thanks!

A few of the things i'd love to see you guys tackle - or bust

#1 - Does livestreaming hurts your channel feedback? - I've noticed that after making livestreams, my VOD videos act weird and takes a while to recuperate on the feedback. I've seem a lot of creators saying they noticed the same thing and the especulation is that because livestreams are usually 1h+ long and people keep joining in and leaving at a fast pace, the watch time is really low and that would hurt the channel after it. Seem people experimenting on leaving the livestream unlisted or just deleting them (what i've been doing)

#2 - Making videos of the same duration is good for the channel? - I've seem people talking about this and couldn't experiment myself. Let's say you make videos of 20 min duration. Everything is good. If you start making highlight videos or whatever (let's say they fit your channel and audience and it's the same thing the 20 min videos, for this exercise lets believe everything is the same except the duration) that have 1~2 min duration, will it benefit or hurt the channel?

#3 - Does the Algorithm (or youtube system) consider channel overall statistics (total watch time for the channel, or total percentual video views) when recommending new videos? - Let's say i make minecraft videos, then out of a sudden i make a small indie game video that i like and want to show my audience. They are used to minecraft, so probably won't receive the video well. The video will have less views / interations. Then i publish a third video, focused again on minecraft (same subject as video 1 of this example).

Will youtube system consider my last video results to determine the amount of subscribers that will receive / get notification? In this case, since the second video went really bad, will it affect the third video, making it be recommended / have notification sent / etc to less / fewer people? And if the second video went WAY BETTEr than the first, would the system consider that to recommend the third video to more people? Or is this a myth?

#4 - If i may, there's always been a question/myth that i have never received a proper answer and i've been asking everybody i could in the last 2 years. Here it goes: What matters more for Youtube recommendation: the total watch time (in minutes) or the total percentual watch time of a video?

Let me give an example to see what im trying to understand here: We have the same metadata in 2 different videos, same title, same description, same tags, they are both posted at same time on the same channel. Everything in them is equal, except their duration.

Video A has 30 minutes, while video B has 5 minutes. People watch an average of 6 minutes of Video A, with a total of 20% of its lenght. And they watch an average of 5 minutes of Video B, wich would be 100% of its lenght.

They both have the same amount of views, likes and comments (people reacted the same on both, for the purpose of this example, only variable here is minutes watched and percentage).

Video A has an average of 6 minutes watched and an average of 20% of it watched Video B has an average of 5 minutes watched and an average of 100% of it watched Wich one would be better for Youtube Recommendation? A or B?

Does youtube recommends more video A based on the fact that in comparison, it keeps people watching on average 1 minute more than video B, or would it recommend more video B, because on average, it keeps people watching it from start till the end, even though it has an average of 1 minute less than video A?

Would be nice to have that on the next MythBusting and get a proper answer from Youtube themselves (btw, i asked that to different people from Youtube help and got different answers everytime, haha) :D Kind regards and keep up the great work!

Q1. When I make a Series what is the best convention to put the "series no" in the title? Part 1/Part 2 or Ep1/ Ep2 or #1 / #2.

Q2. What is the best way to separate phrases in the video title?
Using hyphen - Digha Udaipur Beach - Digha Tour Vlog
or
Using Pipe - Digha Udaipur Beach | Digha Tour Vlog
or
English Sentence - A Tour Vlog on Udaipur Beach, Digha

Any plans to add A/B testing for thumbnails and titles? I would love to see this feature in the new creator studio.

Someone pointed to me that instead of transcribing my entire video from scratch, YouTube uses Speech-to-Text voice recognition to come up with some captions, at least for English videos. It is easier to modify those captions and same the changes than it is to type them up from scratch. But the biggest reason to do this is to avoid situations where the voice recognition completely fails to get the words right or thinks you said swear words when you really didn't.

Caps isn't "shouting" as incorrectly stated in the video (must have been a best guess based on instinct). It is actually a psychological issue that the brain takes longer to process words in caps than in normal case.

I have been trying to add captions as much as possible. It does certainly take time, but there are a few nice benefits. One is on mobile I personally have my phone silenced most of the time so when a video on Youtube has captions it is totally watchable when the phone is silent. In that case I want people that do what I do to find my videos helpful to them. The second is of course helping hearing impaired. Third would be like with what Todd was saying were clean captions should make for better auto-translations (reaching a larger audience). Edit: I'm really not fond of all caps or even the mixture of all caps words in titles. Though I hate to say it's done by channels doing well and whether people truly like it or not there appears to be some benefit. I don't do it... but it feels like not doing it is sometimes disadvantageous (go look at a site like Ebay where people do similar things)
