The night life died in the 2000 teens due to, to much violence at each major and popular spot. Causing them to close down. Now it's mostly bars. Pierre's was one of the hottest clubs in the mid west. A 5 room club with plenty of diversity. When that place closed. That was the beginning of the end of the night life in Fort Wayne. People use to travel from Illinois, Michigan and Ohio just to Party for the weekend. But with the young violent culture came and destroyed all the fun.

Used to live just south of FW and spent a lot of time working there, going to Ivy Tech and in the music scene...('81 - '98) Crime got to be a REAL issue, especially with the gangs and culture on the south side. It finally ruined a really good mall, (Southtown Mall) when people started being shot in the parking lot and stores. I remember one year where there was a murder-a-day for something like 26 straight days. Lot of stuff coming in from Detroit. Not a lot to do, (Indiana was just pretty boring overall), so lots of restaurants, and the weather from Nov. thru May was just NASTY. Cold, wet and dark from the "lake effect" from Chicago. This guy is right when he talks about how depressing it gets. I moved to e. Tennessee, but the summers were actually worse in Indiana, and the winters FAR worse. First thing I remember after I moved to TN was how blue the sky was, (vs. the grayish blue overcast in Indiana) and how many things to go and see that I never experienced in Indiana. (Waterfalls, mountains, huge lakes, 200+ year history sites, etc.) On the other hand, the people were ok and the coney dogs at Coney Island are beyond insanely good. THAT I miss.

I was too born in Florida. Tampa city. And have lived in Fort Wayne for 20 years out of the 29 years of my life. I love the Fort. Especially since we don't have to worry about several natural disasters like the south does. Or the rest of the country for that matter. The Midwest is nice and cozy, is how I like to look at it.

Every place you move to has pros and cons. I have lived in 4 different states, 2 in the Midwest and 2 West Coast ( West Coast is Home ) you find what you look for most the time wherever you live. The Humidity is real, coming from the West coast to the Midwest ? It took me a year to get used to the climate same with coming back to the West Coast...took time to adjust to it.

Winter - occasionally gets lake effect snow all the way from Lake Michigan if the wind is right.

Other than that, when people ask me what Fort Wayne is like, I say "Every bit as exciting as it sounds".

Fort Wayne is an awesome city and I am fortunate to live here. Love fall time in the Fort. Winter isn’t that bad but it can be overcast and gloomy. Good time to read or watch a movie.

Things are changing in Ft Wayne. The county just sent out the latest appraisals . Many properties shot up about 20% or more.
My old addition just got two new houses and saw vacant lots increasing from $30k to $70k. SW side in Aboite.
I`m retired and don`t want increases in property taxes or traffic.

I was born and raised in Fort Wayne and the only time I spent a long time outside of the Fort was the 6 years that I served in the military. I lived in Orlando, Chicago, and San Diego and I’ve been around the world twice just to give you my perspective. Local, local, local in all things is what I preach, you can eat at McDonalds, Wendy’s, or any other franchise chain anywhere, Hall’s, Coney Island, and powers hamburgers are just a couple of places I recommend, Laredos is another example, keep doing what you’re doing but have locals who know the nuisances and history of Fort Wayne

Focusing on the fast food restaurants was a waste of time when you consider all of the great local restaurants of all kinds around the city. As far as music goes, you missed mentioning Sweetwater, the Clyde, some of the bars that have live music regularly, there is so much that you just glossed over. And while there may not be any major professional sports teams here, you can’t go without mentioning the Tincaps for some solid baseball in a beautiful ballpark, nor the Komets which is an institution in the city with decades of hockey history.

Hello. I have lived in Fort Wayne, pretty much since birth. I remember as a kid going to sonic and it was fun and delicious. When we do travel out of state we always promise to go to sonic once. Sadly about I’d say almost 12 or 13 years ago the sonic here in at least the northern part of Indiana all shut down. As for chicken places there is also lee’s chicken it’s kind of a local chicken place but I’ve seen lee’s chicken elsewhere but then Popeyes burst on to the scene roughly about 4 or 5 years ago.

Hi, my name is Adam I am considering moving to Fort Wayne. I have been offered an opportunity at Sweetwater however I am totally blind so I told them to give me three months to research and the reason being is I need to find an apartment I don’t want to buy for at least a year I am 49 widowed. My children are grown live in Maine, so I’m certainly more than prepared for the weather nightmares and The great days to been through that winter thing for real lol either way in Richmond Virginia now and I am just trying to find out truly any opinions you have on the medium level or mid grade apartments trying to stay away from the more violent areas, but honestly having things closer to me as far as accessible to grocery stores, convenience, stores also the micro brewery scene things like that so I didn’t know if you have any Apartment building suggestions or complex suggestions you might refer me to trying to keep my rent under a G thanks 4:30

Fort Wayne has Lee’s chicken which is quite popular in Fort Wayne. I look all the ethic places. It has many Mediterranean places which I like. The many trails are nice. I have been a trailblazer every year since 2015. You go on 10 out of 14 trails in Allen County and you get a medallion for your walking stick. The music and art scene is great too.

I really wanted to enjoy this video, as the content is informative, but I had to quit after 4 minutes because the stock roll footage of generic folks doing mediocre things gave it a commercially cheap clip. Otherwise, thanks for the info.

I lived in Fort Wayne the area of Hessen Cassell/McKinney/Abbott/ and moved because:

1. A drive by shooting in an a nearby apartment complex. You could her the gun shots.

2. Several killings. One body found in the back of an apartment complex.

4. A person hung himself in the back of this complex. People walking by taking pictures but not reporting it to the police.

3. A mother owned a bakery shop on Hessen Cassell behind the Shell Gas Station was kidnapped at home in front of her kids, taken a couple blocks from it and shot 30 it 40 times.

4. Heavy prostitution in this area and various children. A lot of landlords or property management look the other way. The rent has to be paid right?

5. Had to call police more than 15 times just to get in my front door.

6. Saw a drug drop right on front of window.
7. Possible human trafficking.

8. My house had been and vehicle had been broken into more than two times.

There is a large Burmese community living in this area. Nothing wrong with that but a lot of them are becoming involved in this kind of behavior.
