Dublin riots: Irish police blame far-right ‘lunatic hooligans’ for violence

34 people were arrested after the crowd set fire to vehicles, looted shops and clashed with riot police.

The unrest began after three children and a teaching assistant were injured in a stabbing attack outside a school. Ireland's police chief blamed what he called a "lunatic hooligan faction, driven by far right ideology".

The fact that people did react so quickly, the fact the Irish authorities and media have tried to conceal the identity of the attacker and the fact some senior police officers and politicians were stating there was no political motive before they could possibly have known this tells you a great deal about racial tensions in Ireland.
