What are the best books you’ve read in August?

Please don't stop yourself saying the title of the book in French if the book was originally published in French. I always love it when you review French books i.e., Le Comte de Monte Cristo. BTW your hair looks incredible and long. Hope it doesn't bother you in that heat.

No one needs to be complaining about your background lol. It's totally cute and besides, you gotta do what you gotta do! August was a great month for me! I read and loved Pride & Prejudice and Once Upon a Broken Heart. I'm currently reading Kissing Tolstoy and I think I can finish it tonight - really enjoying it so far, but I'm still in the first half. Glad you had a successful month!

Please DO NOT skip the first law standalone books!! First, they are some of Abercrombie’s best works (esp Best Seved Cold and The Heroes). Second, they round out the world and give it context and nuance. Third, events in the standalone books are relevant to the sequel trilogy (you will enjoy them MUCH MORE).

One five stars for me this month and it was.... A Prayer for the Crown-Shy, so cosy, so conforting, so good 😍 Second best was a biography of Anne de Bretagne - slightly random I know, but what a Queen she was!

I really like the new background and I am excited to see the final results for the other room!

It seems like you're having an incredible reading year and I'm so happy about it! Can't wait to see your library once it's done!! :)

Ba-bl = American pronunciation

Bay-bel = British pronunciation

So you're not wrong either way.

I'm currently reading Babel as well and I'm looooving it! But also I'm a language student so I'm just completely geeking out every two pages which probably adds a lot to the experience

I read a lot of really good books in August but my best read is The Burning God followed closely behind by Mistborn: The Final Empire! Also I can’t wait to see your finished library!!

I just started the audiobook for Babel. Really wanted the hardcopy for post it's, but I haven't had time to sit and read. So glad reviews are so good so far .

My favourite book from this month was Creatures of Passage by Morowa Yejide. Also, I made a big list of fall books based on your recommendations from previous years, and I'm about to go collect The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware from my library 🥳 So ready for some spooky vibes now that it's September!

I also dropped the Brent Weeks series after book 2. Brent Weeks cannot write female characters. I hope you pick up Jade War soon. It's so good!

I recommend How Emotions Are Made if you’re interested in a deeper dive in emotion research, it’s super compelling
