Thinking about the scene like a movie in your head is a good idea. Another thing I do to relax while I'm writing is to have a YouTube nature video playing in the background. My personal favorite is Spring birds or forest birds. Others are campfires, rivers, waterfalls, ocean, rain, and many different gentle music videos.

I always say: 1, 000 words a day keeps the craziness away! ;)

When I clicked this video, I thought it was about increasing handwriting speed, not about making books/articles

What I do is I tend to write a quick rough draft just to get the basic idea of my plot and premise in written form and then I would try to edit the story later.

Heard some of these before but it’s always good to be reminded. Thank you very much!

I never thought about writing while not looking at the screen; that's such a good idea because I get so distracted looking at sizes of paragraphs! Let's hope my writing at least makes sense when I turned my brightness back up and isn't sjkfhdakfjhskf 😂

i really like these tips! Sprints, I like it! It's a tweak of the "writing practice" that Natalie Goldberg espouses, more directed. I do bypass some small things but I think this gives me permission to bypass bigger things.

Thanks for this video. I m so slow. My typing is really slow. I watched a video you made on developing plot . You type so incredibly fast. It's what younger people do. I'm sixty one. But it's not just that. I tend to edit whenever I see something wrong. I like your suggestion of using speech text which I wi try.

Any advice on word count while editing?
I've heard a number of authors suggest 1, 000 - 2, 000 words per day.

Is that still the same goal when they are editing a manuscript? Are they already on to the next?

I've been curious about this a long time.

Taking a wireless keyboard all the way to the other side of the room is funny! 😂

Cutting out the purple prose might be a good tip.

Word sprints, smart.
Mostly it's character's motivation. I know I have to get George across the bridge, but why is he there? Answer: ask George. Otherwise it's self doubt and procrastination that halts production.

You can use a reverse dictionary for words on the tip of your tongue.
