I seen a game I own on his wall of games, kind of feel like I know a celebrity now.

Amusing intro. From the looks of it in your review, this looks like it could be an interesting gateway game into worker placement. I don't see the random 'draw to see if you die' at the end being an issue if everyone understands that will happen from the get go. I find it an interesting element. I am not familiar with the books, and mearly aquainted with the 'Hunger Games' from commercials, but this game, on its own, does not seem unappealing. Thank you for the very good review of gameplay.

Clever intro. This game seems like it would be terrible as a two player game (since the points would effectively be unnecessary, removing a lot of the tension, and the ending comes COMPLETELY down to luck). As a four player game, I could see this being a pretty decent worker placement game, if a little plain. Theme-wise, it's kind of like the "tesserae" in the books (which sadly went unexplained in the movie version), where you can get extra food in exchange for extra chances to be tribute.

I will never play such a game with somebody easily to enrage. Random lose -> Rage quit -> Game destroyed.

if your playing 2 player the your strategy could be very pointless, because you will still have a 50% chance of winning or loosing at the end. i would just do every thing possible to not put my cards in the tribute because after 10 turns, it seams like the easiest way to win (with 2 players)

I already bought the game and after your review of how to play which was very good and funny at start, wish I hadn't bought it, and also I would volunteer in the hunger games at 18, im 21 now but you get my point.

Wizkids with Mage Knight and Quarriors got me in to their games but this one from the review looks like a cash cow from the movie release.

I wonder if the generally negative response to this game is due to the setting. Tom liked it, but it only has 5/5 on BoardGameGeek. It sounds interesting the way Tom talks about it, and I personally find the trading of commodities in the storyline to be an interesting part. Yes, the gladiatorial battle part is more exciting, but that type of content is far better served in a videogame, and is indeed the type of thing you do in millions of existing videogames.

Meh. They made a game out of the least interesting part of the movie/book -- it's like basing a game on Lord of the Rings, but making it about farming in Hobbiton and ignoring all that questing and battle stuff. If I'm going to play a Hunger Games-themed game, I want to fight my friends in a contest to the death in a huge arena while thousands cheer on -- I mean, after we play the game, of course.
