The new Dark Sky Trail at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve will be Middle Fork’s first accessible upland trail. This mile-long trail will provide important access to incredible natural areas within Middle Fork that historically have been inaccessible to individuals with mobility issues and provide year-round recreational opportunities to the site. This is an important step in providing equitable recreation to people who use wheelchairs, individuals with mobility limitations, and even families using a stroller or with small children. Rachel Voss is a Champaign County resident who uses a wheelchair. Listen to Rachel's story as she advocates for expanding accessibility with projects like the Dark Sky Trail and Amenities Project at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve.
