AHOY Board Game - Learn How to Game with Becca Scott

Learn how to play Ahoy a lightly asymmetrical game where two to four players take the roles of swashbucklers and soldiers seeking Fame on the high seas.

One player controls the Bluefin Squadron, a company of sharks and their toothy friends, who patrol these waters and keep order with shot and sword. Another player controls the Mollusk Union, an alliance of undersea creatures and their comrades-in-arms, who fight to reclaim their ancestral home. In games with more people, some players control Smugglers, maverick captains who run blockades to smuggle luxuries and essentials, delivering them to those with the most need—or the most coin. Explore the seas. As you play, you’ll make a unique map full of treasure troves, dangerous wreckage, and mighty sea currents, using deluxe double-layer region tiles.

Thanks for the explanation! Only one query. As each person plays 2 dice into their player board, do they only get 2 actions per turn? If so, how do we count the card actions from crew or the union? Wouldn't that mean we end up with dice left over, or we can't use our actions to play them? Bit confused.

When lowering the cannon dice, what are the rules around that? You can just lower it once or multiple times? If it's on the six-dice slot, does that mean it would always turn down to five?

For the Mollusk Union, when you run out of cards, do you shuffle and replace your deck, or is it that when they are done they are done?

Does the smuggler at scoring at the end on pledges gain the fame of the regions?
As in they pledged on a sharks winning the skull regions, and it’s worth 4 fame.
Do they get 1 or 4 fame from it?

What if players have loaded cannons and finished fighting, do they fight again when they have like both dies on 1 ?

So I played this for the first time last night with a friend. We played the 2 player variant but we played the Shark and Smuggler factions because I misinterpreted the “2nd seat” term used on the back of the smuggler faction card. The game was SUPER IMBALANCED and we couldn’t figure out why albeit we had a great time regardless. 😂 Can’t wait to play the RIGHT way this time.
