Whats lame about Montesorri?

We’ve heard whats great about Montessori, but for an educational philosophy born in the early 1900s it has its draw backs.

Here two things we don't like about Montessori

1. Theres a focus on hands on materials. Which is great for Kinaesthetic learners, and better than strictly worksheet. But it isn't 1907 anymore and we do have iPads. Digital literacy is really important today, especially for older children. Which is why most Montessori schools focus on kindergarten age kids.

2. Theres a focus on only letting children follow their passion. The reality is, children don't always know whats best for them. My personal observation on this is I’ve had moments with my children when they hated doing something, but once they built up the cognitive abilities they soon changed their mind about it.

Giving kids a little in their day of something they don't enjoy is a good way to build tolerance and perseverance.
