'Then You Will Die' | Various Versions | Star Wars Rebels.

One of Vader's darkest lines in Star Wars, to his former apprentice, Ahsoka.

I noticed the word's "Then you will die" were both said by James Earl Jones and Matt Lanter, so I decided to combine them.

Different versions/ explanations

0:00 = Original version - Vader's 'Anakin' voice, breaking out.
0:06 = Vader Only - Vader delivering the line without broken voice modulator
0:11 = Spliced edit - Both characters saying the dialogue at the exact same time
0:17 = The delayed modulation - I made Anakin's face looks closer to his Return of The Jedi appearance than his Revenge of The Sith look and there is also a delay between his speech and the helmet's suppressing evil voice.

In the rebels season 2 finale, when Vader calls Ahsoka, you hear the helmet's repeat Vader's speech after a slight delay not at the same time, I think this was to show, that the emperor had truly turned Anakin into a machine.

Which version do you prefer?

His actual voice and the machine voice both speaking at the same time is really chilling, surprised they didn't use that.

Tbh i was expecting a version of this clip with palpatine's line "and then you will die" from the force unleashed.

Hearing them combine Anakin's voice and James Earl Jones makes the most sense, but hearing those words from the original Anakin voice actor, TO AHSOKA, after everything they've been through, just made it so much more heart breaking.

I think the 3rd and 4th clip sound the best. I think why they used Anakin's voice in the original version of this scene to make it more personal and show that even Anakin under the suit is dead or buried deeply down hidden in the darkness.

"You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did."

with Matt Lanter's voice as Darth Vader and with the line after Ahsoka says she won't leave him, "Then you will die!" just simply sounds beautifully, satisfyingly menacing and definite evil-sounding! I totally love it!

What if instead of "then you will die!" He didn't say anything. Just ignited his lightsaber.

My favorite is the first one with the face of the 4th one. Filoni explained he used Anakin's voice for that line so fans would know Anakin was still choosing to kill Ahsoka not Vader. The symbolism is excellent.

Play 0:07 in 0.75. Vader's voice becomes much more chilling and intimidating.

Matt Lanter delivers this line so perfectly, I can’t stop coming back to watch this just to get chills again.

The third is by far the best sounding of the three. My jaw dropped when I heard it. The look of the last one seemed more accurate though.

people complain saying that he looked to "Anakin" under the Mask
like dudes come on it was just for emotinal effect and tension.

That third one, with both anakin and Vader speaking together, that was intense and heart pounding

My favourite is when the two voices overlay each other. Anakins’s still there, but Vader is still in control

The second “then you will die” comes from his speech “then you will die braver than most” to Ezra, right?

I love the third one the best as it symbolizes Anakin at that moment.

I love the combination of Vader and Anakin's voice it is very unsettling and just feels right it's also almost metaphorical in nature showing Anakin's past with his old voice and his present with his Vader voice combined as though it showed the confliction in is soul the dark which has taken over and the light which he has tried with all his might to stave off

0:11 that sounds like someone with 2 personalities

Dave mentioned he used purely Matt's voice (Anakin) for this to signify how he is completely lost so that it hits Ahsoka completely. Nobody can turn Vader in a any shape of form until Luke shows up. They combined the voices of JEJ and Matt before this particular shot when Vader simply says "Ahsoka" once or twice.
