I have used the Bell Pitt Boss for the last few years and love it. Because of this review I decided to try a Gmax GM65. It was a very nice helmet but I did not like the fit at all. It sat very high on my head like a skull cap and wobbled from side to side on me. It left me with a very venerable feeling. Also as pointed out in the video the visor did not come down far enough for my liking either. As much as I liked how it looked and that the liner was removeable I sent it back and ordered a new Pitt Boss to replace my old one. To me it is a far superior helmet.

I have this debate with myself all the time. I own a Shoei full face, Bell Pit Boss (half helmet), Bell custom 500 (3 qtr.), and numerous others. I wouldn't ride a sport bike at the track, or my sport touring bike (Concours 14), with anything other than the full face. But when I'm on my Street Glide, I prefer the half or 3 qtr. unless it's very cold riding conditions. I know it makes no sense at all, the full face is the safest and most logical choice for all riding situations. But, it does detract from the riding experience on a cruiser IMHO.

If you needed the same kind of helmet for all speeds then bicycle riders would be wearing Bell Stars. The faster you ride the more at risk riding styles, the better protection you need. I wear a Bell Revolver when going for the day on fast rides doing lots of curves, at higher speed, longer distance. better weather, sun, rain and head protection. Around town I use the helmet in the video the GMax, a high quality lid that is light, cool in hot weather, and a joy to wear, quick to get off and on and better visibility in traffic. I have fallen off bikes more than a few times and never landed on my face.

Wow the comments are shitty.

Here's what I'll say:

Do what ever the fuck you want.

You want to be more safe by wearing full face helmet? Go for it. Jaw injuries suck. You don't have to justify that to anyone.

You want to go a little more raw with a half helmet? Go for it. To some it's worth it. The breeze is nice in a lot of areas. You don't have to justify that to anyone.

I wear the Harley rebranded Bell Pit boss and it is the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. Makes day-long and multi-day touring much nicer. I also wear the Harley rebranded HJC modular helmet. Also good, better protection in the rain and cold, but bakes my head in the heat and it’s more confining.

Had an accident with the Pit Boss. It worked however I did still hit my right cheek bone on the A pillar. Luckily I was only going 40 kph.

I love all of the crotch rocket writers who wouldn’t dare buy a half helmet but they’ll do 187 mph through downtown streets doing wheelies.

Just an update on rogue. That muzzle when placing it. You dont need to realign. Just stick it and it will attached. Compare when removing you have to re allign.

I used to be a full-face only kind of guy, but back in 1999 I took a motorcycle group tour in India. I knew it would be very hot, so I took a 3/4 helmet - and I was glad I did. When it's 40c and high humidity, you still sweat a lot in an open-face - you just sweat less than with a full-face.

Use the right tool for the right job. There are hot summer days here in Canada where a 3/4- or a half-helmet actually does make a lot of sense, rather than baking your skull in a full-face.

I crashed wearing a full face(Lady pulled out in front of me at 70 mph) Believe me you want one! The pavement ate up the chin bar of the helmet instead of my face!!

I prefer a half helmet for use in town, where traffic is heavy and speeds are low, up to 30 or 40 unimpaired hearing and peripheral vision are a big plus for avoiding accidents. However, on the open road out of town, at higher speeds more coverage is more comfortable, and safer.

I always wore full face but would borrow my brother's 3/4 for the backroads sometimes. I have gone without a helmet a few times but not often. I have never been brave enough to rock a half helmet.

What about a helmet review just for suburban/city scooter riders who don't go onto highways etc and don't reach those speeds. I'm looking at food deliveries and don't need/want something I have to be taking on and off all day long because it hides my face, but I need a full face pull down visor. Plus, this is 7 years old now.

I wear a modular. Best of both worlds.
However, it amazes me all the people on the roads and highways on bicycles . Some move pretty quick, and close to speeding cars. Skinny tires, spandex, crazy helmets, no lights, no horn, weak brakes.
