How to make Aunite Anne's Copycat Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites (video)

Having grew up eating Auntie Anne’s pretzels where each and every pretzel is made fresh, I was naturally skeptical when I came across this Auntie Anne’s Copycat Pretzel Bites recipe. Could I really achieve that soft, fluffy, chewy and sinfully delicious biscuit by making them at home?

The moment they came out of the oven, I rolled a couple into the cinnamon sugar mixture and ate them immediately. Crispy on the outside with a chewy yet soft centre, I was quite impressed. Consider the time and effort required to them is less than bread-making, I would definitely be baking (and eating) more of these.  However, I would probably half the quantity as stated in the recipe next time.

Ingredients -

1 ½ cup (192 g) bread flour
1 cup (128 g) all-purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup (235 ml) warm water (approx. 43C/110F)
1 packet (1/4 oz. / 7 g) active dry yeast
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Water dip
3 cups hot water
5 tbsp baking soda
Coating
½ cup salted butter – melted
½ cup white sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Cream Cheese Dipping
4 oz (125 g) cream cheese – softened at room temperature
2 tbsp (30 g) unsalted butter – softened at room temperature
1 cup (128 g) icing sugar
2 tbsp whipping cream
½ tsp vanilla extract
Serves 6

I made it without the bread flour, and did exactly 2, 5 cups of all purpose flour, the dough was a little sticky but I didn't add more. And these turned out so good and so soft! My kids said its better than the ones we get at the mall! Thank you for sharing this recipe with us! 🖒

I made these today and I have three words: OH MY GOSH! They were sooo good! I halved the recipe...big MISTAKE. The next time I'm going to make the full recipe because they are almost gone. I need more! Thank you for posting this recipe. I'm keeping this recipe for years to come.

Dough
2.5 cups flour
2 TBS sugar
2 TBS brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1-2 tsp yeast
(1 tsp baking powder)
2 TBS oil
1 full cup warm water
Divide into 6, then into 5-8 small bite sized pieces
425° for 8 minutes middle rack
Water dip
1.5 cups warm water
2.5 TBS baking soda
Coating
1/2 cup melted butter
3/4 cup white sugar
1.5 TBS ground cinnamon

I used mostly all purpose flour and after putting the dough in the baking soda mixture I spread the mxture of one egg and a tablespoon of water into the dough and it came out perfect. Thank you!! It tastes just like auntie annies if not better.

This recipe is so easy .. I made 2 cups of flour for 2 adults & 2 kids, like after dinner snacks ... they are good making them again ... Thank you 😀👍👍👍👍

Okay so I just made them and they are so very good like dang I ate them all in just 10 minutes I also did it with 2 1/2 cups of flour instead of adding bread flour because I didn’t have any and they turn out fine

Wow! This looks like the perfect recipe. I’ve seen a couple others for comparison and I think yours looks like the perfect consistency and softness. I will be sure to make them and some regular pretzel shaped too 🥨

do i have to use bread flour or can i use all purpose flour?




Edit: i made these and they turned out AMAZING my dough was hard after i mixed it with the mixer so i added a splash of hot water and oil and it made them a bit softer where i live we don't have Auntie Anne's and i miss them so much so thank you for this recipe i think the reason why it was hard is because my water wasn't hot enough so thank you these are amazing you def. should go make right NOW! also i used all 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour because i didn't have bread flour and they still turned out amazing! my brother won't stop eating them!
