I like Hank Green’s take on the subject a lot: “You didn't go to school to learn how to get a job, you went to school to learn, and you did it! You know more stuff now!”

27 years old here and going to college for round 2, and my mom just got her master’s degree at 57. You’re never too old to figure out what you want to do.

That's why I'm a huge advocate for community college. It gives you a chance to explore different majors before the crazy expense of a 4 year school. And I encourage everyone to only go to college if what you want to do absolutely requires a degree. I knew I wanted to be a biologist, which requires at least a bachelor's degree, but my brother wanted to be a mechanic, so he went to trade school instead.

As someone who is considering going back to school at 26, I really needed this. Never too late to figure out what you want to do with your life

"We have plenty of time to figure it out." Idk why but I really needed to hear that. Thank you.

As a 17 year old this genuinely made me cry. It’s so stressful thinking about the future when you don’t know what you want to do yet and everyone is pressuring you to get a job, get your license and choose what you want to do for a living. Like I’m just a dumb kid who likes to listen to vocaloid and draw 😭 Idk wtf I wanna be

The message of this video just helped me heal so much. I have secretly thought I was a failure for not using my 'useless degree', but the experiences and info I got from college are so important to me! Thank you!

and this is why I started monitoring my interests when I was a kid, I could figure out what I liked doing consistently.

In Nigeria, we graduate high school 15/16 and they expect us to go straight to the university. When that doesn’t happen we are looked down as unserious with our lives. I’m 23 now, in college as a freshman and I know exactly what I want to do with my life and I didn’t know that 3-4 years ago!

My therapist went to school for theater arts and at first I thought it was two different careers, but while we were talking and doing therapy stuff I recognized and noticed how he used the two together. Best therapist of my life and I’m about to start my second year of high school drama class❤❤❤

I hate the system in the UK too-we pick our GCSE options at 13. You need certain GCSEs to go to universities, jobs etc. So if you pick the wrong ones, you're kind of screwed.

The sad fact is not everyone has the luxury to "do or discover their passion".. We have no choice but to work right after we finish school

I went to college at art major to become an art teacher. But I ended up as a medical secretary/admin in a hospital. And I love it (both gives a sh.t salary tho 😅) 🏥

In Italy you are expected to have a potential carreer path in mind when you are 13 so you can chose the right high school cause there are so many different types and you have to find the one that should give you most of the skills you need for your future job. At 13.

“Why would someone go to college for a profession they are never gonna use” my damn cousin went to Harvard to study tech and he came out an ihop server. These people really don’t understand lol

My mom got 2 teaching degrees. Music and History. She's a food and beverage manager and gets paid 3x what she would have made as a teacher.

My therapist says she didn’t start going to school until she was in her 40s. She had her family and raised them up and then decided she wanted to do something else. Never too late to change your mind. And knowledge is knowledge. School doesn’t have to be a stepping stone for capitalistic success. You can just go to expand your knowledge and that is admirable in itself!
