Quite amazing but sad that he lived for a long time but had to pass. A piece of history died with him passing.

I was Vietnam veteran, I was 19 in 1972. The last Vietnam combat vets were in the Mayaguez incident in 1975.there may have been a marine that was 16 or 17 at the time. The youngest maybe 64 years old today. I wont be the last one left because I have prostate cancer from agent orange exposure and simply wont last that long.

110 years old, is impressive. I remember leading a US Marine Color Guard at a patriotic event at a church, in 1991. In the front row was an elderly veteran, wearing his WWI "blanket weave" Marine blues. That moved me deeply.

He was a sailor, not a soldier as this ChatGPT script says.

My grandpas fought on opposite sides of the war to end all wars. One for the Canadian Army and the other for the Kaiser. rest in peace.

I remember a ww1 veteran visited our school in the early 1980’s

I've known a few ww1 vets, a Abraham Lincoln brigade member from the Spanish civil war, untold numbers of WW2 and every conflict since. I even knew a coal stoker from 1910 destroyer. I miss most very much.
Rest in peace....

My great grandpa who was a private in the west riding regiment survived until 1974, when my mom was born, he fought in the war when he was about 17, it's said he died of old age or something
