Sublime Text 2: Best text editor ever?

Sublime Text (2) is a new(ish) cross platform, beautiful text editor!
It's extremely fully featured and is clearly superior to every other text editor I've seen!

I enjoyed your video - and am currently falling in love with Sublime. I've used vi for 20+ years and it's the first editor ever that has made me consider changing.

Hi. I think you forgot about the main and unique quality of this text editor, that you don't need to save your work, only if you want to run the code. You can close the program, shut down your machine and when you're back te code still there! I think it's an awesome feature. Is using the principle "pen and paper", when you write something on paper it remains there.

I really like Sublime. It was in my top 5 editors for a long time. Over the last year or so, tho', emacs has crowded all editors out of my life.

Sublime is the best editor I've ever used hands down (but, to be fair, it's also only the 4th -- I've used notepad, notepad++, textwrangler for mac, and sublime, so I'm not an expert on the subject). But still, I'm just AMAZED at some of the stuff it can do. Anybody reading this who does a lot of HTML, download Sublime, you don't have to buy it to use it, and get the Emmet plugin installed and learn how to use it. It's magic.

You are right! Now I am using only Sublime Text 2, and Notepad++ went to trash bin. There are skins, which I didn't know while writing that post. I was looking around on YT and found our conversation. You were absolutely right.

I've never used Sublime but I really like Vim. It's frustrating at first but great once you get good at it. I learned using vimtutor, which comes with vim. Then you can go crazy editing your .vimrc file to configure Vim the way you like it. I like how I never have to lift my fingers from the keyboard--it's really fast once you get it down.

interestingly enough, the manner in which you replied to smek2's comment shows a level of maturity I often times do not see from people twice your age; good for you!

excellent first look at sublime text 2. I for one will be giving it a go even though I am a HUGE vim/macvim/gvim fan & user.

Christ, why all the hate about "professionalism" and age? I'm 31 year old working professional and found this video interesting and useful...and convincing. I've just loaded up Sublime Text and I am enjoying it.

I agree with what you said, but keep in mind that Sublime has many beautiful skins which can be installed very easily.

@smek2 Yeah I know, sorry about that -- It's really not professional of me to keep things like TweetDeck and Steam open. And as for the 14 year old remark, as much as I feel it was attempting to be a poor offensive remark, I AM around that age range -- I'm 15 years of age at current and I'm trying to get better at creating video and text content.

Its way better than Notepad++ and today i made my build for C so now i can 
Build and Run also just like any IDE. It has Plugin option which makes things very very easy.

I just installed a similar "textmap" plugin (aka minimap) for gedit. It has highlighting for search matches too, something I've wanted for a while. Installation was easy too.

Is there any guide to leave the # SublimeText3 ready to program in C ++? (the conio.h library does not rotate).

Example, if I download a jQuery library I just want to drag it into the sidebar.

How do you change the font-weight to normal?? the font of the theme, cause in the theme I'm using bold fonts are awful

I can't believe people are fawning over this editor so much when Vim has been around for 20 years! I've tried Sublime editor 2 and yeah it has a very fast editor core but Vim has been this fast for decades and has a much larger feature set and richer plugin base. I'm actually amused at people's reaction because you wonder what on earth have they been doing for so long to make a quick editor seem awesome to them!?!?!?!
