Making a pair of Rivet Headers

In this video I'm going to make a pair of rivet header. I have used these for the book press restoration, well just one of them to be correct. But I decided to make two, so I could also use them to make a rivet connection with round heads on both side. On the book press I have used them to let the half round rivet head sit securly in the dimple of the rivet header, so I could peen the other end of the rivet.
I used 34CrNiMo6 for this tool. I hardened it and tempered it to give the tool more durability.

If you haven't seen the book press restoration yet, here's the link:

I hope you like my work and the video.

If this wasn't a secondary channel it had to be called "I make a new one"! Maybe you make for the first time a lot of projects, but it is clear that you are very skilled! Great💯

Watched the book press restoration video earlier. Still the most beautiful restoration yet.

I could watch you on that lathe all day 👍 thanks for sharing that process with us.

Fascinating watching you make the header. I forge mine, so it's great to see a different approach. I put a taper on the back as well. This way the hammer blow is more likely to be down the centre of the tool. Also I slightly dome the back to get a more stable contact with the hammer.

Loving seeing you use all the tools you have restored in the past for this, the Beverly shear, the anvil. For any petrol heads watching who have arrived recently, well worth checking out the other channel for some awesome ASMR restorations.

I don't have a perfect tool to fix anything? I make a new one! Congratulations!

Two very specific ASMR sounds in your videos. The sound of the metal being placed into the lathe and the clank sound of it being released. Lovely. Don’t know why. Just love those noises.

This is EXACTLY what I thought about when you restored your micrometer two years ago (and I believe I've dropped that in my comment). You finally built them here ! Awesome content. Thanks once more.

There is always more to refurbishing anything other than simply making it work again. And you go that extra to also make your project not only work, but look amazing too. Thumbs Up

I said it before and I'll say it again: You have ruined all other restoration channels for me, after getting used to the precision and care you put into restoring any other channel I watch just leaves me thinking "My Mechanics would never do that" "My Mechanics would have done it better" etc. etc.
