Cheap 8' Benchtop Jointer! Craftex CX08BTHC 45 Second Review

#shorts This is my super quick review of the Craftex CX08BTHC Jointer. Also commonly known as the King Industrial KC-8HJC, WEN JT833H, Rikon 20-800H. They're all the same jointer, just with a different coat of paint.

Haven't seen that brand in my area but it looks identical to my Rikon benchtop jointer. I agree the value is hard to beat, and the carbide cutters on the HH will keep on-going costs low. It cant compete with a full-sized unit, but I dont have room for that in my shop so it beats using jigs on the table saw and planer. I was disappointed that they use aluminum for the top

I've been trying to decide between this jointer or one of the floor model 6 inch jointers. Not much difference in the price between the 2 but the floor model seems like it might be sturdier with a heavier fence. But this one is 8 inches wide. Really can't make up my mind!

I have always wondered how exactly the fence is attached. Can you tell if you were to purchase a 4 ft extruded aluminum and replace the factory one?

Is this the same as the Rikon 20-800H? Looks pretty much identical but the one in the video is ~$150 USD cheaper after converting from CAD.

Not sure if you still read these/if anyone wants to respond, but would you guys recommend this vs. other jointing methods such as planer+shims? my next big purchase is prob the dewalt 13in benchtop planer, so im wondering if its worth trying to learn jointing with a planer or saving for a jointer.

Same as every other 8" (and 6") benchtop jointer. They're all made in the same factory, Shop Fox, Wen, Wahuda, Grizzly, Craftsman, Shinko, etc. I don't think I've ever seen a benchtop model that isn't made by this same company. Craftex has the better color paint job and is, along with King, the other Canadian brand.

When I'm using my jointer that has a flimsy fence I'll face joint my boards then I'll take it over to the router table to get a flawless joint rather than dealing with my sloppy fence
