@Incenderio because it wears off with touch and adding another layer to protect it would affect the viewing quality. I'm sure they'll come up with something eventually.

Could you do another outdoor and indoor comparision between Retina, Super Amoled, Super LCD and Amoled?
They could be great comparisions!

I've had the Nexus (AMOLED), iPhone 4 (Retina - TFT) and HD2 (TFT). I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S (Super AMOLED). With the HD2, I couldn't see anything under the sun at all, even with full brightness. With the Nexus, I can see a bit more than the HD2, but not enough. With the Galaxy S and iPhone 4, I had no problems with them under the sun. However, I can see more on the iPhone 4, not that big of a difference though. Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest Android fan, just being fair =]

Its nothing like that. and iPhone is TFT IPS.
And they both do aswell in bright lights, iPhone is more reflective, that's it

I agree with you in point of the update policy. But ins´t that the same with PC´s?
It defenetly depends on what you need your SP for.
Personally, i was looking for a smartphone which could compete with Iphone, but was´nt that horribly expensive, for the phone itself and the apps or even worse, the music.
Don´t want to spend money for every single "fart" on my phone.
It´s a matter of "style" too. Hipsters -> Iphone, nerds -> android phones.

i have a samsung wave (super amoled) and an ipod touch 4g (retina) and eventhough the super amoled is brighter and the angle of clear view is wider, the retina has a higher resolution and therefore, the retina gives you a much smoother view.

oled is all good and well except it suffers burnin, as does all phosphor based displays. its got a while to go yet but is getting there, lcd wins with its rediculous pixel density though, especially IPS based LCD

Seriously, though, I'd like to see a more updated video of the same thing with current phones. Maye when the GALAXY Note comes out later this month.

Retina display is not made by apple but LG. IT is funny how people think it's Apple when they pay LG to use it. Samsunbg however makes 90% of their phone themselves, apple makes close to 10% themselves

@DarthMuse Huh in fact I have had an iPhone since the original 2G version. As for everyone buying Android phones....yeah right. Verizon had a record launch for any phone when they started selling the iPhone last week. In fact a survey of Verizon customers said as many as a 3rd would trade in their Android phone to get an iPhone.

Android is an operating system and there are plenty of crappy Android phones out there. Actually the majority of Android phones aren't even high end phones.

@peppythepivot extra colour would fit under both better and sharper. besides the iphone isnt any more professional than an android phone. it all depends on how you plan on using the phone

@misterme622 What facts? No they didn't use AMOLED screens because the specs aren't that good and their resolution is crapy compared to the retina. There are even concern of the colors fading in todays current AMOLED screens.
either way once the screens improve Apple will start using them, but only when they improve.

tft + no glass screen layer if for me my best experience for using with sunglassses and on sun. I have experience vid OLED and IPS TFT ... OLED on my PS vita is probably better but need more power suply and is without same brightness power as TFT...
