wow awesome video, the Super AMOLED really is so much better then anything else right now. I love my Vibrant :) The Colors are so true and they just POP out at you. I didnt think Super AMOLED would make that huge of a difference.. Again very good video, thanks

Retina is not a display type. It's a Pixel density. Almost all HD screens are Retina and all FullHD phones are Retina. Some are super Retina. The Iphones screen is LCD.

Love the detailed vid and background music! I've been on the fence about getting either the fascinate or iPhone since I'm eligible for a new every two now! I just don't know if froyo 2.2 will come out soon or at all for the fascinate!

@jajay961 the problem is because both the "oleds" do not require a backlight. Retina display is just a TFT display with super high pixel density (backlight technology).unless you're 2 cm close to the display, differences between wvga and retina is not much.

oleds provide more accurate colour reproduction because of touch technology built in to the display and no backlight.

tft/retina replys on backlight meaning contrast ratio is way off and more washed out.

TFT and retina relys

For and experiment like this, it's really important that the camera has a color balance lock and a brightness lock. Without doing that the camera will favor one of the devices screens and it will have an effect on all the other screens. You can see this in the way the retina display seemed to blow out colors, but in reality it wouldn't look like that.

@EpiclsME THE REASON WHY THE PPI ON THE IPHONE IS MORE THAN UR PLASMA IS ALL TO DO WITH DISTANCE. you look at the iphone screen close up as it is in u hands so it need a high ppi or the images will not look smooth and u will see pixel gaps in it.(between pixels) while on ur tv u see it from what 2 or 3 metters away so u only need a certain ppi for that distance.

Off topic question completely.. what music are you using? Its really nice and chilled out =)

I am actually surprised to see how well Retina stands up to AMOLED, But I think AMOLED Takes the Win.

@decemberXbunny yes but a SAMOLED screen only uses 3% less battery power than the Retina display, so the difference there is negligible. ALso OLED's don't perform very well in bright conditions outside.

I love the comments when people say "red is too red" or blue is too blue" on the samsung screens... LOL!
I always thought red should be as red as red can be. Man some people need a brain transplant.
All kidding aside...
Had an Iphone until I personally compared it to the Sprint samsung epic. Got rid of the iphone and went to sprint.
The iphone WAS the best phone just like apple USED to make the best computers. Times change but ignorance does not. It is a new world out there and apple is beat

It's a term Apple came up with to differentiate their screen from others. Like how Toshiba calls their LED lit monitors "Tru color" and HP has "Bright view" (or w/e they call their LED backlit screens) even though they're the same thing.

@OcarinaBrothers Correction here; iPod Touch 4th gen uses Retina display on iPhone 4/4s TFT high res display, but without IPS technology

and now there are super tft screens so ur already behind the game :P. i liked the garage band music tho :)

@OcarinaBrothers I agree, the retina can be pretty unbelievable but the size does matter. The size could make the pixels stretch out less and the size should also be one of the reasons why its brighter. I think apple took the easy way on developing their screen because shouldn't it be harder to make a big screen rather than a small screen that looks nice. To me a phone is a tool so it has to be functional for me to use so I prefer the samoled+ since it fits my hand better but its all preference

@jordanwollmann You shouldn't be so fast to place Super AMOLED HD first. Apparently when screen brightness is lowered, the display starts to become very grainy and noisy. So don't feel obsolete with your screen, it's still better than the HD one.

@Jospehporta It's not 3% less. You can't put a value on it because the difference varies so dynamically on the type of use. Whites use more power on OLEDs while blacks consume no power. So a dark theme will make a much larger difference to battery life on OLED than it will LCD. Also, AMOLED doesn't necessitate a back light which drains power.

I still like the LCD fire the biggest reason, no burn in like the other 3. Think about that notification bar sitting there constantly, then be there forever even when the screen is off.

@ChaseKittens The fact remains for 2010 the retina display was the best choice. If and when SAMOLED screens become better, especially with resolution and outdoor performance, then Apple will probably adopt them. Unfortunately at the CES there weren't any new things for SAMOLED screens. Hopefully something will appear in the next few months which is superior to the current OLED screens.

Same :), the display is very good but I think greens should be calibrated a little bit more.

@rijul7 Both OLED and LCD are TFT technologies.
