Growing up my parents never taught me how to properly brush me teeth or made sure I did as a kid to get in the habit. So my whole life I have had many many cavities. And my old dentist said “WOW I’ve never seen someone with THIS many cavities your age in my life” and i felt so embarrassed I never went back to the dentist again along with my general fears and anxieties of the dentist. Now I’m trying a new dentist and getting a cleaning and fillings soon.

I really liked the way you described cavities: they surely are sneaky, and often don't hurt... until you try to fix them.

Oooh I envy adults that have never visited the dentist and have all their 32 set of teeth....

I don't reply on videos often, but I've learned so much from this channel even though I thought I was doing good before. Now my teeth hygiene is next level thanks to waaay better flossing, fluoride mouthwash, cleaning etc etc.
I hate to say it, but my teeth used to be very bad when growing up... I didn't care as much about my hygiene until I turned 16/17(im in my mid 20s now), which by that point I almost killed off my tooth enamel which genetically was already poor to begin with and high risk for cavities...decided to turn my life around and luckily since all the fillings and some root canals I've done barely had any tooth decay and restored my gums as well.
The advice you have given definitely saved my teeth as best as I can during COVID-19 lock down since for the first time since my teens I skipped my check-ups and scaling; Sadly I got a cavity, but I also think it had to do with a jaw surgery and only being able to eat mostly sugary and acidic things since I wasn't allowed to brush my teeth due to risk of infection @ the incision sites. Even the hardened tooth plague wasn't that bad compared to other people...so i was very happy :D

Thank you, your channel is great ;)

I’ve never had a cavity in my life and I can see two of them on the tops of two of my teeth in the back and this was really helpful! Thank you 😊

I always tell my patients to floss first then brush, the reason being to remove the biofilms tenacious extracellular slime layer then the toothpaste will actually contact the surfaces.

I also feel weird about not rinsing after the initial brushing, so I've come up with this: brush, rinse, and then re-brush with a bit of toothpaste for just a few seconds.

A good healthy diet will also keep cavities in check

I was like you when it came to leaving the tooth paste without rinsing, but after a short while it didn't bother me anymore, as long as I'm able to spit as much as I need to. Try it a few times, you'll get used to it 😊

That was a good chart about the radiation, Whitney! I'm glad they mentioned the background we all receive each day. I just want to remind people who are concerned about radiation to have their residences checked for radon if possible. That can equal many x-rays in each day, and you get it again every time you inhale. Best wishes, Whitney. :)

I agree with you about not being able to keep the toothpaste on your teeth after brushing. I have to rinse my teeth right after I brush them, or my teeth feel gritty. I had a lot of cavities about 14 years ago. I had to go to a dentist who offered sedation because I didn't trust the dentist I was going to when I had all of those cavities. I did find out the reason why I got those cavities was because of low vitamin d. I have been taking vitamin d supplements since and no more troubles with cavities. I did switch to crest pro health and I have been having great dental visits since.

Due to adhd I usually forget to brush my teeth for weeks at a time. It’s awful because I know I’ve probably already set myself up for tooth decay. I just wish I’d got up and done it. :(

the advice you're giving with the issue of carbs sugar and acids is common sense One of the things I do is drink waters throughout the day and vigorously rinse my mouth out with every meal and also I chew sugar free gum with xyitol another thing to is always use baking soda and salt mixed with water to rinse my mouth
