Judging the width and position of your car using the mirrors

Wing mirrors are incredibly helpful when reversing and manoeuvring a car in tight spaces. But can you use them to position the car when travelling forwards, going round bends and negotiating tight spaces?

I still find it difficult to tell if I'm going to hit my left front bumper when reversing into or going through narrow gaps. It's definitely getting better with practice but I still stay on the safe side and take my time. Your videos have been a great help. In fact, you've taught me more about driving than anyone else. Thank you for the amazing work.

Just came to say that I passed my drivers test on Friday last week! I watched so many of your videos and you taught me so much about driving a manual car and I can’t thank you enough. Your tips and tricks really came in handy ❤️

I have a driving license for 3 years now and i still can learn from some of your videos. That video about judging the sides of your car is the best one about this topic that i have found on youtube.I knew about judging the gaps and staying centered way before finding your video, but you explained it on another level. Also before this video I didn t use my mirror when turning close to a car or other obstacle to judge if i m gonna hit it or not.I just made sure that i passed it with half of my car before turning, or just with my side mirror if i have one meter, one meter and a half between my car and the obstacle. Thanks a lot man!

Thanks for all these videos. I think I changed my driving style from watching your content, and now have just passed my driving test first time today. I remember judging the width of my car and how to steer were my first YouTube videos I watched from your channel, and now it's just instinct.

I PASSED MY TEST TODAY!! Fourth attempt. All of my previous failures were down to nerves and self confidence and believe me, if it takes you one attempt or one hundred... you will get there.
Richard, I honestly can't thank you enough for all of your dedication to helping people like me get through our tests. I can hand on heart say I would not have passed without you.

I wish I could have you around me for 7-10 days while I drive my manual car! Hope you can make a video on eradicating fear for someone who intends to get back to driving after collisions or accidents. Thank you for your work!

I passed my test in November and had a ford fiesta until a week ago . I got myself a Suzuki Vitara as it was my dream to have a bigger car . There is not much of a difference driving a bigger car but I was a little anxious for few days . Watching videos like this is definitely helpful .

Hello Richard, leaving this comment here in the faint hope that you will read it. I just wanted to give you a big shout out and big thanks for your invaluable channel. At the age of 41, I decided last year to finally embark on getting my drivers license. Now nine months later I had my second drivers exam this morning, and passed it with flying colours! :)

First time around it was sheer nerves that got the better of me, and completely misjudging a situation quite early on in the drive that got my already rattled nerves even more rattled.

Your channel has been extremely helpful, and were just the right supplemental tools I needed to gain the confidence and know how to master the art of driving. You have a great way of laying out the challenges at hand, present them in an understandable manner and offer different scenarios and/or pros and cons for whatever the topic is.

I am sure I will come back to rewatch some of your videos for some of the stuff I still can improve on, and will continue to subscribe.

Again a big thanks for your time and effort, much much appreciated - cheers! :)

Very crucial topic. Thanks for focusing on it. It is actually very dangerous to keep looking at the mirrors majority of time while driving.
