How to accurately judge the distance between vehicles and avoid collisions?

So in all seriousness now, he's talking about reference points and if you get to know them then you will feel more confident driving especially when driving perfectly centered in the lane.
First adjust your seat forwards, backwards, some seats can be adjusts to go up, down, forward tilt and back tilt. After you adjusted you seat make a reference point where the line meets the bottom of the mirror with a piece of painters tape. Use painters tape because it won't damage the paint and will not leave residue. With a ruler or measuring tape park the car to where the Asian guy said. Then measure the distance. The same goes for backing up, use a measuring tape and measure the distance then make a reference point to the top center of the wheel well edge with painters tape. The same thing goes with driving centered in the lane using a parking spot. You may not have all the visibility on the right side so you need to make references points on the left side for left hand steering. If you're located on the other side of the planet, your steering wheel might be located on the right side and you need to make reference points on that side.

Truck, bus, and other large vehicle operators know about reference points and can relate when first learning how to maneuver these big machines safely on the road. If we can do it then you can do it driving your regular car safely on the road.

Most importantly be mindful of large vehicle operators on the road especially trucks because they can't stop as quickly as a regular especially if they're pulling freight. Before passing a truck in your opposite side mirror either your right or your left, you should see the whole face of the truck including the bottom of the front wheels. If you can see that whole picture in your side mirror then it's safe to go back in front of the truck because you're giving the truck driver enough room and time to react if something should happen. The same goes with you, you don't like it when someone cuts you off because they didn't give you enough time to react and slow down safely and could cause an accident.
When parking take your time there's no rush. Ignore the idiots around you honking and taunting you to hurry up. Just take a deep breath and take it easy and don't over correct. It's okay to get out and look (GOAL) if you don't know.

Why you guys are fooling us?? Side mirror is dynamic and position will vary based on adjustment. How can you use this as reference?
