This crispy sesame chicken is another one for the fakeaway Asian food lovers. Its Sweet, salty, crispy, sticky and a little bit spicy – it covers all the bases for one of these meals that everyone polishes off. Not a scrap left.

It has been the most popular recipe on our site for the last couple of years!

Ingredients:
5 tbsp oil
2 eggs lightly beaten
3 tbsp cornflour/cornstarch
10 tbsp plain/all-purpose flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
½ tsp garlic salt
2 tsp paprika
3 chicken breast fillets chopped into bite-size chunks

Sauce: *
1 tbsp sesame oil optional - you can leave out and just sprinkle with plenty of sesame seeds at the end if you prefer
2 cloves garlic peeled and minced
1 tbsp Chinese rice vinegar white wine vinegar will work too
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce use more or less depending on the brand and how spicy you like it
3 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
4 tbsp soy sauce

To Serve:
Boiled rice
2 tbsp sesame seeds
Small bunch spring onions/scallions chopped

* Double up the sauce ingredients if you want extra sauce.

Didn't have a wok, made it in regular pan for my boyfriend and his friends. EVERYONE WENT FOR A 2ND PLATE!! This was the most DELICIOUS recipe i have ever made and is so much better than take out!! Definitely will be doing it again! Thank you for this heavinly chicken recipe!!

I made this today and I’m not lying when I say that it’s tastes exactly like takeout but better! I didn’t have cornstarch or sesame oil but it still came out amazing. I used white vinegar as she suggested in her recipe when making the sauce. My older sister decided to make some egg fried rice and this was honestly delicious with the chicken. I’m more of a baker so cooking is my week spot. I’m 15 and I wanted to try to cook something other than noodles or rely on my mum and this was super helpful. Very simple and easy. Will definitely be my go to recipe. To anyone reading this that is contemplating if you should make this I definitely think you should!

Ever since you posted this recipe, I've been making this for my husband and I every Friday night. It is hands down, the best asian dish EVER!!! We haven't ordered Chinese Take Out since...Thanks for sharing! Hugs... :)

Me and my family absolutely love this recipe. I highly recommend everyone to try this recipe.
I didn't add brown sugar instead I added hot sauce to make it sweet and spicy at the same time. Thanks for the recipe 😋 Simply love it.

My mom asks me to make this (with fried rice) every year for her birthday hahaha. I just make a slight change: I omit the sugar completely. I made it once with the sugar it was extremely sweet for my taste. Without it it's still super sweet and good though!

Just finished devouring this. WOW! It ticked all the boxes. The whole dish was simply fantastic and unimprovable! Well done that person! It had endlessly sustaining depths of flavour. The sauce dribbled down on to my white Tshirt. I do not regret losing a bit of laundry to a dish like this. Happy Days!

I tried this recipe today. I did exactly same except less soy sauce. And served with steamed rice & broccoli. It was so good. Everybody loves it. My son says this is amazingly good. Highly recommend! I will definitely keep this recipe. Thank you!

I watch a lot of cooking channels and hardly ever leave a comment but this sesame chicken is amazing, I’ve since added a bit more chilli heat and veg with rice. Everyone who has tried it can’t believe I cooked it, and I am ok in the kitchen. Thank you for your a great video!

This is an absolutely amazing dish. I made this for dinner tonight and it was a massive hit in the house. We bulked our recipe out with a cup of peas and edamame and it made enough to have leftovers the next day.

This is the most amazing and satisfying recipe our family has tried. Tonight was the second time and it sealed the deal as a new family favourite. Better than any takeaway you could imagine. The satisfaction you get from eating something like this which you make yourself as a family is worth every penny saved.

I just cooked this tonight as oddly I had all the ingredients in and have not had a Chinese “takeaway” for nearly a year. It was fantastic, I really haven’t tasted better in a restaurant and this was all my own work (with your simple clear instructions)! The only suggestion I would make is do the chicken coating in advance and keep it in the fridge. It does get messy as your tongs followed by your fingers start to clag up 🤣

I've just made this and it is quite delicious. It is not difficult to make as the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I made this as a trial for my husband and I, but I will definitely make it again for dinner guests as part of a Chinese evening 😋

Did this for the first time last night. Loved it! I don't normally cook from scratch (usually use ready made sauces) but even for a cooking numpty such as I it's easy and my family were impressed (if not somewhat surprised!) Try it. It's delicious.I'm now finally a convert and will be trying other recipes.
