You forgot to make a cup of tea first before putting in the wood!

For those in the US, a "railway sleeper" is what we usually call a Railroad Tie - those big, heavy, creosote-soaked beams that the steel rails are laid upon.

I’ve never met this man yet I’d trust him with anything, he is so genuine and pure

My grandfather chopped off his right pinky toe cutting railroad ties all the way back in 1919 at the age of 8. The Spanish Flu killed his aunt and my great grandfather ran off. So my grandpa and his brother began to cut railroad ties to support his family. Crazy times...

Beautiful stuff Eoin! Would you do a short showing us how you use this axe?

I always heard them called hewing axes. "Sleeper" is a new one for me. Thanks, bud.

That's a great way to do steam bending. Thanks for sharing, Eoin. Never thought to use an old kettle fantastic mate. Thanks for sharing from a fellow carpenter from Australia 🇦🇺

It's amazing how wood can be bent. A couple of planks on a deck I built were warping up. I put some hot water (really no way to keep steam on it without buying a steamer or something), clamped it for a few hours, and now it's a straight as new.

I always get so happy whenever you make a new video, your my favorite YouTuber all around, thanks Eoin!

This was also used ages ago in ship building (and I imagine still is to some degree) it’s pretty dangerous when youre doing it with large planks or beams. If it loses its clamp and snaps back, you don’t want to be in the way of it.

Grateful for the insight, sir. I'm a carpenter in Texas, and your content is a great inspiration. The old ways are sometimes the best ways, especially with woodworking.

I always liked a shorter handle with a tad more sweep. But I can't criticize, it's all about preference. You do exceptional work on all your projects.

So great to see a young man enthusiastically keeping alive the old school skills. I hope you inspire other young men. One of my favourite YouTube craftsman.

My father used to bend wood for Shepherds Crooks. Steaming the wood is very effective.
All the best.👍🏾😉🇬🇧

Steam bending is also used in wooden boat making too, to great effect

I'm not even a woodworker but some of your tricks are cool

I actually have one of these in similar shape. Just the axe head though. I’d love to restore it once I have a shop. Currently don’t have many wood working tools. Shinto rasp is definitely on my wish list along with a tenon cutter. All thanks to this channel.

Those threads hanging down from the sack being so close to the flames was giving me anxiety 😬
