Our Great Depression is to believe the system wants the best for us.

You are not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your f*cking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

I feel the same way about YouTube much of the time...
I constantly am searching the feed to find the perfect videos to fit my mood and fill the hole this culture has created. Each click or view is like another little patch to the lack of life the digital world provides.

I know i can go outside and hike this very moment, but i feel the pull back here into this realm of the imaginary anyway.

Don't get me wrong, i love the wisdom i gain from videos like this one, but it does come at an expense.

Even if I were to see the perfect piece of content right now, it could never satisfy that hole.

I know this and yet here I am, telling myself just one more....

Safe to say, it's an addiction, I guess... and I'm not even on social media!

Anyone else find themselves struggle with this?

It’s telling that we often refer to jobs as “occupations, ” a word that suggests something one does simply to pass the time. I think it highlights the triviality of most of our working lives. Just as adults keep babies occupied with pacifiers, the ruling class keeps the rest of us occupied with meaningless, empty work

Fight Club is a must watch for young adults. In a hyper individualistic neo-liberal capitalist society where consumerism, materialism and absolute 'freedom' and 'power' without any sense of responsibility defines our lives and every aspect of it, where men are told to 'man up' while also being warned about toxic masculinity, a movie like this serves as a general reminder of why skepticism, non-conformity and non-submission are absolute necessities to realize our true potential.

I found myself at 21 all alone, depressed and heartbroken in my new Mercedes, and at that moment I realized that the stupid car had nothing to do with happiness, it was the people in my life and only the people, and yet we have no value for relationships but will enslave ourselves to 980$ a month car loans. Your material possessions add so little value to your life, and you become a slave to them, I sold my car, most of my things, and cancelled my credit cards, I live modestly now, it has not at all effected my happiness. I am free.

I think the main problem is just the way our brain works. it actually doesn't want us to relax. im speaking from my own experience, but our brain just cannot give us a cool down litteraly once. Cause its our brain in the end which controls how we feel. Our brain doesnt nagotiate with out rational thoughts. Its only driven by primal fear and reward. If we fit the image our brain wants us to be we feel happy, if not then we don't. its our own brain which is making us depressed, anxious and sad and he doesn't negotiate, he rules and he shows the way, no way round it. I think this is what jordan peterson also means when he talks about god and this is the way to him, that its not something primal but something devine that leads us. its this path. But we're not in control of our reward and punishment, even though its our brain. funny huh?

The philosophy of Fight Club is the philosophy of Gen X. The book and movie were a critique and indictment of the society and world our Boomer/Silent Gen. parents left us.

This movie will always be relevant whilst its critics will fade in time.

I watched Fight Club back when I was a teen and didn’t had much to do or had much money to spent, I liked the movie but never felt so much connected as I am feeling now after working in a corporate job. Fight Club is really a gem. ❤

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.

I just came back from thailand and had to smile about the backpackers. I saw a young woman in a backpackers hostel talk about a buddhist course and it's teachings and at the same time drink a beer and have a bag of chips. I was preparing my green tea and thought the world is a strange thing when philosophy and religion is just another item on your to do list. Better be a nihilist and question everything. This life is about suffering teaches the Buddha. All we try it seems is to reduce the pain by consumerism. You're right to point out that it's like a pact with the devil. He always comes back for more....

Your videos are an eye opener. If this does not wake us up to wasteful consumeristic life nothing else will. Amazing narrative! Deeply grateful Einzelganger!

Tyler Durden: “we all want to be movie stars and rock gods”…Brad Pitt is that. The irony.
